Andruw Jones signs with the Yankees. After first seeing him as an 18 year old in A-ball and then all then those years in Atlanta, it almost hurts to watch him play now.

Manny Ramirez and Johnny Damon to the Rays. 5 years too late are we, Tampa?

Feels like Canseco and Boggs all over again.

Part of me wants to think they could possibly contribute, the other part thinks they were signed in a attempt to boost attendance, seeing about 25% of the area are Sox fans..

I know Manny isn't what he use to be but how the f did the Rays get him for less than Andruw's deal?
#damon gets $5.25 mil from #rays plus 750 grand in attendance bonuses, manny gets $2 mil from rays. #doubleplay

I dunno, im not as upset about this, first i have ever heard of a "attendance" clause in a salary. So obviously it was partially a ploy to get more of these lazy asses out to the games. Got them for dirt cheap as well, just reeks of desperation though..

Nothing wrong with sprinkling some veterans around a young nucleus.
Don't know if i would have gone in this direction though.

I agree, I was just adding on to the post above. I think Manny, if healthy, can be a good DH, certainly can replace Pena. But I'm not sure if I agree with Damon. I'd give Jennings a shot.

Pretty sure Jennings will find his way into that lineup on a regular basis. Wouldn't be shocked to see a platoon situation, or Jennings in RF at times seeing is that Damon is quite the defensive liability these days.

What is the big head scratcher for me is the Rays have lost two thirds of their bullpen in the offseason. Maybe try and focus on that a tad? BTW Jays just got scary today. Angels got suckered, that starting rotation looks pretty sick now..

Yea, the the Rays bullpen is in shambles, need to figure out how to at least get some serviceable arms in there.

Jays fans are pretty much worshiping Anthopolous now. Being able to get rid of that contract while getting a couple of pretty good players in return is quite the accomplishment.
