Ohio State over Bama, but it'll probably be the other way around. Miami visits the Shoe the 2nd week this year so their title hopes may end right there.

hope you aren't basing this off of the rose bowl. oregon's pass d was horrible last year. it was the OSU's D that was the difference. pryor will never turn the corner.

if shannon could coach we would have noticed by now

He took over a complete mess. Name one weakness on this year's 'Cane squad. Experience, depth along the OL, and consistency are the only areas of concern. Brandon Harris, Ray Ray Armstrong, JoJo Nicolas, and Vaughn Telemaque comprise a solid secondary. Colin McCarthy, Sean Spence, and Ramon Buchanan will be an adequate LB troika. Allen Bailey is the best DE in the South, while Adawale Ojomo, Olivier Vernon, and Marcus Robinson fight for snaps at the other DE spot. Marcus Forston, Micanor Regis, and Josh Holmes anchor the stout DL. Harris returns with more experience under his belt. The WR corps, composed of Aldarius Johnson, Tommy Streeter, Leonard Hankerson, and Travis Benjamin, among others, is deep and talented. Graig Cooper, Damien Berry, Mike James, and Lamar Miller form the best quadripartite RB corps in the ACC. Orlando Franklin, Joel Figueroa, Brandon Washington, and Harland Gunn return along the offensive line, but depth is a concern.

And you know this how? Vince Young sure tore it up his first two yrs after redshirting didn't he? I guess I shouldn't bother hoping they have a good year now.

OSU returns almost every starter on an offense that was mostly sophomores so I expect them to be better. Tressel called a great offensive game in the Rose Bowl and hopefully continues that. The D will still be very good. It's not that difficult.

strange you don't seem to be a fan of rice or washington state.

Rice is like soccer. It's the most popular food in the world due to financial reasons. I don't mind it as a compliment to a fine plate of Japanese, but it isn't exactly my favorite food.

I can appreciate The Space Needle and the Huskies' football program under Don James, but that particular state likely won't be one of my haunts. New York, Florida, and California are more my style.

I don't think Ohio State will make it. Nebraska is going to end up dominating the BIG 10 after next year anyways. OSU's glory days of overrankings are coming to an end.

I am going to pick Ole Miss. I would pick Kentucky - but I have a feeling they will stumble in the final game of the year to screw it up.

Knowing the two-deep roster for a particular team doesn't automatically make them a national title contender.

Worst case Miami might be the 3rd best team in their own division...best case 2nd.

It wasn't a listing of the two-deep. It was an explanation as to why Miami will be back where they belong. North Carolina's D is really good, but the paucity of a consistent QB will hurt. Virginia Tech lost a lot on D, and Tyrod Taylor can't throw.

How about them Yankees, Lakers, Blackhawks and Blue Devils ?

Not just knowing the two-deep roster, but also knowing which kids would have gone to ut if monte's kid had stayed at ut, may automatically make them a national title contender.

Pryor will never deliver a NC, unless Ohio State was overall much better than they are. But they're not.

However, I think it's somewhat wide open this year... One could pick Oklahoma, Florida, Alabama, VaTech and I wouldn't be surprised at any.

Maybe the year we finally see a mid-major in the title game?

I'd be stunned if Beamer ever got over the hump and actually won a national title. Florida seems unlikely, but you never know with Meyer.

As far as OSU and Pryor, they aren't the best team, but they can get to the title game if they just keep Pryor from ruining games. Then, they'll need an upset in a game where Pryor plays like this past Rose Bowl.
