2010 Prospects

It has been well known for quite a while here in the upstate that Lattimore would be one of the top recruits in the US, let alone SC. According to this list Brandon Willis is the highest ranked DE in SC, then Corey Miller. All 3 of these guys, Lattimore, Willis and Miller, are from Byrnes High. I need to drive over there and start kicking TNs name around.

Byrnes puts out great players every year. If there was a factory in SC, it is Byrnes.
Didnt Willy Korn go there?

Oh my god yes!

I got to watch a Five star recruit play for my high school. Hell yes Jaquez, work hard and earn this for all of us in Ooltewah, TN.

The dude is huge. He was about 3 times my size when he was in middle school and i was in high school. Cool guy though, would love to get him aboard at UT.

Yep, Willy Korn, as well as several other Byrnes players, went to Clemson, Prince Miller at GA, Everett Dawkins at FSU (2009 prospect Justin Bright also committed to FSU), Cartier Rice at KY, Trey Bailey at Wake. A couple of other kids are currently at Appy State.

Upstate SC football is very good. Byrnes was #1 in the USA Today Super 25 for half of this season (beating teams from FL and GA), until Dorman (another Super 25 team that's 10 minutes down the road from Byrnes) beat them. Byrnes got revenge in the playoffs and went on to win state. Gaffney is another super power around here but they had a down year.

No seriously, OMG!

You enjoy every bit of this and get as excited as you want to. Just think how it'll be when an Owl is on the field in Neyland Stadium!

So how did the visit yesterday go? I just now heard he was there. Awesome!!

Yay, another All American that I've played against.

I hope he owned you too (and he probably did if you played on the line or QB or RB... or even on the D-line or LB when he demolished people blocking at TE) - so you can tell your kids that a former Tennessee Vol "pain"caked you in high school.

the reality is this is not John Chavis anymore, so you don't know what he would be until we figure out what kind of defense we are going to have. 6'2 230 could be SLB or MLB. He is similar in size to Donald, and that would be fun in 2 years...Donald, Askew, Smith

By the way if Coach Kiffin did not make you believe he is bringing Tennessee back to prominence, we just extended Scholarship offers to number one overall QB and top 3 QB.

?! Tommy West could extend offers to the top 10 players in the country...extending an offer means nothing...you must get them to commit...and sign.

Gaffney could produced more D-1 kids than any other school in the state, if the coaches over there gave a damn about grades. Dominique Stevenson was from Gaffney. There is also another former Byrnes player at Vandy but I can't recall his name.

Well I doubt he did, but their lineman worked me. Of course, I was basically on one foot.

I have to say, the two of best players I've played against weren't even two stars out of high school. The QB for Livingston Academy in 05, and a DT for Howard HS that same year.

Oh, and about the "pain"caked thing, I earholed Jacques McClendon my junior year in a scrimmage. He had a hurt ankle, but still.

I havent heard a lot of this guy, but saw in another thread about the top players from next year....he is the #1 rated player and is a QB...and has us listed under schools he is considering. Anyone seen any film on him? Is he a "kiffin type"?

Only thing I would be worried about if we do get him, is that he's a Mormon and going on a mission after his freshman year.

Thats a great point....I didnt realize that about him. I guess that explains BYU and Utah being on his list too. How long does a mission take? Didnt we have a DT recently who left for mission as well?
