I'm not talking about what does or does not count as a top 25 win. We've already had that discussion. You're just acting like he's made this crazy dramatic improvement as a coach, based almost completely on that one game.

Yeah, after his first year people were saying that he'd never make the NCAAs and that his top recruiting class was a fluke.

Before last season people were saying that he'd never win an NCAA game and that he couldn't beat a top 25 team.

I dunno about Elite 8 wins, but I wouldn't bet against the guy, especially now that he's going to a conference where you won't get a 6 seed for going undefeated. It's pretty clear to me that he's improving as a coach.

I'm betting against him. Bad coaches don't "improve" all that much or Buzz Peterson would be a genius by now.

I would certainly hope that anyone can improve with more experience in any position. To take the position that a coach will never improve is ludicrous. He is an excellent recruiter, not a great floor coach. Even moving to another conference, he still will not have a problem winning as many good teams are leaving the conference. He probably should do more than he does with his talent, but he certainly can improve as time goes on. Talent will usually win for you, even with less coaching ability. I think part of the Memphis problem in the tournament is the lack of playing quality teams during the season.

Amazing isn't it! Now he's hanging his hat on that. They have beaten one ranked team in 4 years! Wow! Such a great coach! I live in Memphis and 90% here know and say Pastner sucks as a coach.

Well he has beat the stew out of us everytime. But wait we haven't been ranked have we?

I added records, because the "improvement" in his first three seasons was pretty marginal.

He did flash the amazing ability to guide a top-20 team to a top-32 finish, though. That's pretty impressive. Then again, that 26-9 8-seed was #11 preseason.

I think the point is that his teams have been loaded with talent, and he has done nothing with it but win C-USA and beat us.

In the first 6 of the rotation we will have 2 5stars, 3 4stars, and 1 3 star. How does that look on paper? We have never had a first 6 with those credentials.
