2013 F Austin Nichols (Memphis Briarcrest)

Just talked to Mark Nichols, Austin's dad. Said they spent the past week assembling a 58-page report on all options. Settled on Memphis.

58 pages?

...who the hell puts together a 58 page on anything besides lawyers?

So it took 58 pages to settle on the home school. That his mom was wanting him to go to from the beginning? Ok.

Frankly, it's pretty odd for a Briarcrest kid to pick Memphis, but that just shows that Pastner can overcome the lackluster academics of the school.

And he just said last week he wanted to be the "face" of a program. I don't see it at Memphis, but good luck to him.

Just sold him on basketball. Memphis can't offer the social atmosphere that UT can, nor the academics that Duke can. But if his first priority is bball, Memphis has always made the most sense.

We could've really used him. Pastner is deadly on the recruiting trail.

Still got a great season coming up so let's get behind this team!

Ol' Wes just tweeted that the rest of the 2013 class at Memphis convinced him that they had a better roster and future.

Memphis joining the Big East can't be overlooked either.

Surely odd for a kid with a focus on his education choosing Memphis, but hey, good luck to him.

If his priority is only basketball, Duke would rank above Memphis on the list. Surely you aren't that much of a homer...

I don't agree with the post, but the fact is he chose Memphis.

Cane,

Do you really think he will fit in, in that kind of offense?

Can't fault a kid. If he wants to be closer to home and play with more "top" recruits then so be it. That's the way college basketball is headed anyways. Can't dwell on it CCM did everything he could do. Still have a bright future ahead IMO.

Dave Telep @DaveTelep Austin Nichols decision to attend Memphis should remind us all of a rule. The longer the process goes, stronger home team gets.
