2013 Schedule

Is this where we post that the next guy should be fired, too? I mean, if we can fire Butch three years from now without having played a single game under him.....

Game? He hasn't even had a practice with this team. Only the Strength Coach can do anything right now.

I wonder what "8" games people are expecting us to win. When I look at the schedule, I see a low of four wins and a high of seven if we are real lucky. More like four to six wins.

i don't mean to speak for sjt18, but i think i know where he is coming from. so, i will make this post and he can correct me if i am wrong. but, i think this is what sjt18 is thinking....

butch jones has to have a good season to build momentum for the program. if he doesn't, the recruiting won't be upgraded and he will lose his whole offensive line in 2014. because of recent recruiting efforts and the loss of the offensive line, 2014 won't be promising either. if that happens, it will be near impossible for butch to get the program to take off and people will turn on him. when people turn on him, he'll be done.

now, it's hard to forcast out that far. however, i do believe it's going to take a while to turn this thing around. so, if people are not willing to give butch time, the cycle may repeat itself.

however, i believe the main difference will be that butch will not be in year 3 where he will be in year 1 and people will have more confidence in staying the course

No matter what happens Butch gets 3 or 4 years. I agree that this year will be important to recruits, we HAVE to prove we are moving in the right direction. Without good recruits we are stuck in that cycle as you said, and will continue to be a bottom feeder in the SEC. Getting to a bowl game is a reasonable goal and should be the determining factor whether this season is successful or not.

We should definately know where we stand before the FL game. Thats what I like. In the past we play two cupcakes then look unprepared against the gators.

because we knew where we stood before the FL game last year right....I think we found out in the 2nd half what we were about. :cray:

8-4.... UT has the right coach

6-6.... Hart needs to work on a list to replace Jones as early as after the '14 season but no later than the '15 season.

UT has 17 or more Sr's in the two deep plus 2 or 3 JR's who could leave early. I am not blaming Jones or faulting his efforts but the '13 recruiting class does little to plug all of those holes. As thin as LB is this year, it will likely be much worse in '14. All 5 starters may be gone from the OL.

What I am saying is that if Jones' coaching ability only gets UT to 6-6 this year then it will be worse in '14. That could get him canned by itself... or it could just mean that he would need a miracle and coaching lessons to have a chance to save himself in '15.... with a still young team.

IMO, he MUST prove he can coach THIS year by beating someone he should not beat.

Really? We will run CBJ off with a 6-6 season? Realistically, we go 6-6. Anything else for the first year coach will show good coaching ability. Yes, let's get rid of CBJ. I'm sure great coaches will be beating down our door after running off Fulmer, Kiffen leaving, Dooley, and then CBJ. Yes, come to Tennessee. And if you don't produce immediately, we'll look for the next great coach. It just doesn't work that way. This is going to take a long-term plan with CBJ having at least 3 to 4 years to clean up this mess. Start replacing coaches constantly and we'll just keep going downward.

I find it strange such a huge gator fan knows so much about Tennessee football. I wouldn't have any clue how competitive Floridas games were before the UT game in years past.

He was taking a shot at UT by saying our games against "cup cake" teams turned out competitive. Pay attention.

There no point in me making predictions. The past few years I have been horribly wrong. But I do think if we manage to win at Oregon or Florida, we can win 8 games.

I like the way the schedule is setup next year. After two pre-season scrimmages, Oregon is a great test to see where the Vols are before hitting the swamp. Then, another prep game before the GA and USC games, which I think we will win one of those at home. In addition, there is a bye week after the GA game.

I think 7-5 should be expected!! Go Vols :eek:lol:

Unfortunately, Western KY isnt going to be a pushover.

Music city bowl is the glass ceiling for the vols this season! 7-6 with A bowl win if everything goes well!
