2013 TN PG Darius Thompson

Apologies in advance because I'm sure this has been asked.

If we do get Thompson, does that mean we'll have 4 PGs on the roster next season?

Golden, Lopez, Landry, Thompson by my thinking...

Lopez is a walk on so I wouldn't really count him, only reason he got minutes this year is literally no other choices, that won't be an issue next year hopefully.

I haven't seen him play just heard that we really want him.

Do you think Thompson would be favored to play at backup over the other 2 guys?

Also will Lopez earn a scholarship?

Yes Thompson would automatically be the backup IMO

No, Lopez is a walkon we aren't in a position to be wasting scholarships like that

Love this kid's style of play! Would be a great addition for us. Also, just throwing it out there, but Humboldt (playing in the Single A State Tournament) has a kid named Desonta Bradford who plays the same position and is also the same size. Obviously Desonta is playing in a smaller Division and gets little exposure, but this State Tournament could be Desonta's coming out party. If anyone is going to any of the games, then make sure you go and watch him. He definitely takes over every game.

I really like Thompson as a player and I also think landing him would be a good step forward in recruiting the middle Tennessee area basketball and, to a lesser extent, football players. Middle Tennessee has been producing some pretty excellent athletes and it feels like we have missed on a number of the players in basketball (Poythress in 2012, Kedren Johnson in 2011, and John Jenkins in 2009) and football (many players). In sum, he himself would be an excellent addition and may also help foster some relationships in that area of the state for CCM, CBJ, etc.

For whatever reason, we didn't really pursue Johnson thst hard, but your point is correct. The midstate has really put out some talent in basketball, football, and baseball as well.

You sir, speak the truth Bradford is a hell of a player, never understood why he hasn't been more heavily recruited.

For some reason, I remember rumors that Johnson's attitude wasn't the greatest. But that may not have been true. Pearl would have continued after Poythress if he had stayed.

I think you are about to see football recruiting blow up for us in mid state and entire state in 2014.

Playing in Humboldt (Single A school), which means little exposure and a coach that doesn't have a lot of ties with colleges. Also, not enough money to go to any camps, so this state tournament is going to be a really big thing for him if he shows out. If he leads Humboldt to a State Championship and plays the way he has all season, I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of schools (MTSU being the first) start showing interest.

Side Note: If I had enough posts, then I would start a forum topic on him. Sorry for spamming on Thompson's thread

So Martin didn't go after him?

Pearl was here when Kedron Johnson committed in the fall as Pearl had Jones and Ware. Martin was hired too late I believe. But, he is saying that Kedren Johnson was not in the same class as Selby and Craft. Selby and Craft were 2010 while Johnson was 2011.

I forgot about Jones and ware

It's like you read my mind...lol.

Yes, Pearl recruited Jones and Ware at the position, rather than pursue Johnson. Selby and Craft were in the previous class, and obviously did not end up here. Johnson signed with Vandy as Pearl was a dead man walking, Tennessee hired CCM, Jones and Ware did not follow, and we wound up with Wes Washpun when all the dust settled.

All in all, we got jobbed by the basketball gods as it relates to PG recruiting. I would love to have just one of Selby (though he would have gone pro regardless), Craft, Jones, or Ware.

Isnt his high school team playin today at 1:30? Does anybody know if we can stream the game? without paying?
