What has he ever accomplished that would make you think he is a very good coach?
Mediocrity is not a very good. That is all he has shown.
Recruited well? Stokes was a nice get but was an unusual situation. Hubbs is a nice get but he still hasnt played a game yet. His recruiting is avg. He had two similar seasons where his team looked lost for half the season and then put a run together. That was ecpected in year one, not in year two. Grant out coached him in the bama game that cost us the tournament. Martin never made an adjustment in that game. He has this year to prove he can coach.
If Martin brought this guy on, the same people saying he should look at him would be criticizing him for taking him and saying how much over his head he is.
So far he has looked in over his head. I hope the light turns on this year for him and the players, but I dont have a lot of confidence thatvit will.
I have no issues with criticism of Martin, so long as it's factual. Saying Martin has been mediocre is completely false. Mediocre would insinuate that he's done an average job, the fact is he's finished 2nd & 5th in the SEC, that's hardly average or mediocre.

How has his team done in the SEC tourney ?
How many teams has he taken to the NCAA tourney?
How did his team do in the tourney that he thought his team was too good for?
/thread
I think its more about being consistent. They have looked good at times but have also looked really bad sometimes. That falls back onthe coach. The sec has not been very good and a 2nd and 5th means nothing to most people without a tournament appearance.
By definition you're wrong. How many at large teams? How many D1 teams?
I agree it's not considered successful, but to say its average is just wrong.

CCM lost my respect at the end of this season. I don't buy the whole depleted roster talk, he came in at an upswing, not a downswing like Pearl. Regardless, if he was that great of a coach/recruiter it really should not have mattered because one recruiting class is all it takes in college basketball. I would have continued to support his mediocrity in hopes of this being a breakout season since we do have the best returning lineup in probably 5 years. However, his victim attitude, how he handeled us being "snubbed", and the fact the team gave up in SEC tourney play and the ensuing NIT tournament tells me we have not found our coach. He doesn't have a winning attitude, probably a big reason he has never had a tourney appearance as a head coach. I hope he does well next year and I eat crow, I just don't see it realistically happening.
