2015 Vols to open against UAB at LP Field in Nashville

Is Miami the capital of Florida?
Is Mobile the capital of Alabama?
Is Cincinnati the capital of Ohio?
Is San Francisco the capital of California?

We need to expand to more than just East Tennessee. Just saying.

That makes no sense.

You guys are so proud of Tennessee, yet you don't seem to give a sh*t about Tennessee's professional football team? Even worse, half you guys rooted for a divisional rival of Tennessee's team just because of one player. I understand wanting to see Peyton do well, but I can't respect when Vol fans buy Colts merchandise and stuff when they are a rival of your in state team.

If you truly love Tennessee this much, you would support their professional football team too.. and ESPECIALLY not a rival.

And don't act like UT has been more successful in the past decade or so than the Titans have been.

More importantly, there are several big name recruits Butch is fighting for who live in middle and west Tennessee. This is a way for UT to get a bit more publicity. It's a great idea, f*** the complainers. f*** half this damn fanbase.

Many of us attended UT and don't give two sh!#$ about the Titans or the NFL outside of it's entertainment value. College loyalty makes a whole lot more sense than NFL loyalty. The Titans are there because the owner screwed Houston. The University of Tennessee will always be in Tennessee. Our players are forever Vols and are not traded like playing cards. Our team won't pack up and leave town in the dead of night on the whims of some billionaire. In conclusion f*** the other half of this damn fanbase that believes the Titans have anything to do with The University of Tennessee.

Word. The Titans and their crappy stadium blow donkey ballls.

The University of Tennessee will always be in Knoxville . . . not Nashville or Memphis or Bucksnort. That's where it plays its games.

Fixed

Tallahassee
Montgomery
Columbus
Sacramento

OSU already plays its home games in Columbus (and not Cleveland or Cincinnati). Not sure what the other teams would gain by giving up home games to play by their state capitols.

Other states don't take 6-7 hours to drive across. It makes plenty of sense recruiting wise.

So, UAB is on our schedule in 2015 and they've secured an NFL stadium to play the game, giving the game more interest than it would have otherwise. And some of y'all are *****ing about it.

Good to know some things will never change.

I'd rather UT play someone in Charlotte. Better recruiting exposure, IMO. Pretty obvious that CBJ has Middle Tennessee locked down at this point.

But as a rule, I don't see the benefit of giving up a home game. No way it can generate the revenue.
We aren't giving up a HOME GAME!!! :banghead2:

It makes all too much sense! Why can everyone not see that! The Nashville/Murfreesboro/Franklin area is one of the fastest growing areas in the country. Beretta Firearms USA, just last week announced they are building a $45 Million dollar manufacturing plant in Gallatin with up to 300 jobs initially. Some of those may be transfers from the current facility in Maryland moving to the area.

This year wasn't a fluke and you will see the Nashville/Murfreesboro/Franklin Metro area will likely be producing 6-10+ Top150-200 guys every year for the foreseeable future.

Just look at the 2015 247Sports Top 10 in Tennessee they already have ten in-state players ranked (4-Stars) 8 of those are from those areas (4-Nashville, 3-Murfressboro, 1-Brentwood)

:dunno: It's not that hard!

I don't see how you say it's not giving up a home game? Yes, this is the 'extra' game added to the schedule, but that is still a home game. Do you really think UT would go to UAB?

Pretty certain that UT is only obligated oto play conference games on the road. Then it is a contractual issue of what is negotiated (home/away) for a series.

So yes, they are using what would otherwise be a game played at Neyland. You are welcome to show otherwise. But placing a head bang smiley beside a bald assertion doesn't make it true.

If this staff views it as an investment in that area, fine. I'd rather them do camps off campus.(If allowed)

Maybe this will remind some of you guys that Tennessee actually has a professional football team! The lack of support the Titans get from East Tennessee is pathetic. You guys chose to root for a divisional rival over the Titans for a decade just because of precious Peyton.

Different crowd..

I just moved here to Nashville from Knoxville. I couldn't be happier to hear this great news! I'm in!

I love the idea of playing at LP field and I will be at the game.

As for the Titans, I have had to explain to many "fans" of the titans that contrary to their popular belief, professional football began well before 1997. Many fans already had allegiance to an NFL team. I'm not bandwagon jumping to the oilers. No way. Ever.

The game this is replacing was going to be an away game. If you want say a game took away a home game then look at the one in Bristol. Tennessee will still have 7 home games next season.

Like it or not you better get used to it someone on one of the radio shows I listened to yesterday said Tennessee is looking at holding games not only again in Nashville in the 2018 or 2020 season but in Charlotte & Atlanta (The Falcons are supposed to open there new stadium in 2017)

Its interesting to me hearing about how you cannot change your rooting interest simply because a new team comes to town.

I grew up in ATL and was a fan of all Atlanta teams and especially Ga Tech. I moved to Nashville and began rooting for UT because they are the home team (IMO as a private school Vandy can never be Tennessee's team) and also my wife was from Tennessee and cheers for the vols.

But I also cheer for the Titans, Preds, and would cheer for an MLB team if they came. With pro sports my only loyalty is to my "home" team because there is no fan loyalty in pro sports. Teams move and players will go to a competitor formore money.

So I still cheer for the braves but would adopt any new mlb team. if I moved back to Atlanta I would cheer for the falcons but since I am in Tennessee I will cheer for Tennessee's team, the Titans.

Same with me other than growing up and living here north of Chattanooga the Falcons & Braves were always my teams until the Oilers moved to Nashville and became the Titans then they became my team. However I still root for the Falcons as well since one is in the NFC and one the AFC and when they play each other I root for the Titans.

Never get why some say Vols or nothing? During football season six days a week I bleed Orange but on Sunday its Titan Blue! Last time I checked they don't play each other.

I will always pull for the Braves but I also wish a MLB team came to Tennessee or would it be in bad taste to root for them over the basevols?:ermm:

This makes no sense.Except for the part when you said that some people come to this college From different areas in and States. And they already have a favorite NFL team......And as that is said why do they want to ruin for the people who was born here and have Lived here all their life and root for the Titans....A lot of teams have moved Including the Baltimore Colts...Every team has moved least once look it up....Don't get on the bud for doing it...A lot Of owners Have done it....

If this is true how did the city of Indianapolis become a Colts fan and how did a lot of teams that move become fans of there team....And Kansas City,it used to be Dallas Texans....This makes no sense....I'm sure indyannapolis were already fans of chicago or some midwest team before baltimore colts moved there....And then they had to start being Fan of the colts....

I don't think anyone is saying you guys shouldn't like the Titans....I just don't know why some think everyone else has to be a Titans fan as well.

As a guy living in Knoxville, I have no interest in going to watch Tennessee play UAB. Thus, I'm glad they decided to take the show on the road, I don't have to feel guilty for staying home and watching it on television and the middle Tennesseans and westerners don't have as far a drive. Full of win imo.

RECRUITING!

Plus, LP sells beer...but they'll compain about how much it costs

The UAB game was scheduled to be a home game, not away.
