With injuries and transfers common in basketball, how many players would you like to see on the 2018 roster. I would think 12 would be a good number. We have 2 commits and would need 3 more.
We have been shorthanded a LOT over the last 10 years owing to injuries and other issues, and it is dumb not to think protectively about team depth--not how much you have now but how much you might have if adverse circumstances were to occur.
Right now it looks like we got 9 that will play a lot and a couple that want see much time. Of the nine that will play four will be freshmen. I guess we will again see Mercedes, Jaime and Diamond hit around the 35 minute a game mark barring injury and foul trouble.
I think holly with the incoming freshman , meme Jackson, and green can steal 5 min a half (ten total) a game to keep their min closer to an average of 30 min per game. That's just about 2 min per quarter. You look at SC Aja wilson, tyesha Harris, and Bianca Cuevas will have to play big min also. Now they two transfers to help out but that still is only 5 players. They will have incoming freshman and people that didn't play much last year. Ms St will have to play Williams, vivians, and their 6'7" post lots of min. KY well who knows honestly he will have to rely their two returning guards heavy min like he did with epps. A&M lost their starting point guard who led the nation in assists. So a lot of teams will be playing their players a lot of min. When you think about it with 9 player rotation that may be one of the deeper rotations in the conference if everyone produces somehow. If westbrook/Hayes can provide stability on the perimeter and defensive pressure and some penetration and scoring... Davis can hit open shots and rebound... kasi can clog up the middle , if each of these can do that for about 10-20 min a game that will be a huge plus. Anything from Kourtney (like 5 a game with 2 rebounds) and Harris relieving the posts (5 min a game possibly) would be a huge lift. But should be doable!
SC will have Jennings, Cliney, and Herbert Harrigan who could go for 25 minutes a game. We'll also get help from our talented freshman LeLe Grissett, Bianca Jackson, and LaDazhia Williams will also play about 15-20 minutes per game so Wilson, Harris, and CM won't have to play the entire game. That is also a 9 man rotation
We shall see I still think they will lean heavily on those three i mentioned before ... Clooney and Jennings will most likely move into the starting role. Bianca Jackson did sort of impress me. Last year yalls three pointers were better to open up some stuff. This team reminds me more of the Tiffany Mitchell teams. Good luck though !
I get what you mean of course those three will be call upon a lot for minutes especially in big games but unlike last year they all can rest without a drop off. We only had 3 post players last year this year we have 5 so it's an significant difference. As far as the tree point shooting goes that will be taken by Committee. Cuevas-Moore shot 42% leading the team while Harris and Hebert Harrigan shot 37 & 35 %. Add in Jennings who was a 40 % shooter at Kentucky and Jackson and Troup and we'll have a better shooting team then last year. This years team will be nothing like the Tiffany Mitchell teams. They are far more versatile. Herbert Harrigan and Grissett will be able to play in the post or perimeter. Harris can move off the ball and play wing, Cliney can play 2-4, Jennings will play 4/5 with Williams who can defend guards and bigger posts and knock down the three ball. To top it off this team will feature 8 players that's either 6'0" or taller. This may be Dawn's most talented team yet, and I've seen them scrimmage and practice already. But thanks good luck to your lady vols this year as well!
Hopefully, it is not a sign that her last visit is scheduled for Florida State. I wonder if there are stats on how many recruits commit to the last school visited(Patterson last year comes to mind).
Yea but it's also worked in our favor with Rennia Davis and Annie Hayes. KK and Westbrook had other visits they completed after us. If you remember Jordan and Mercedes visited us then Louisville the next weekend on their final weekends but committed to us. So let's hope it will be like their visits. Where she feels it but does her die dilegence to commit to us !
