**2019 March Madness RF Thread**

I don't think that was plan at all.

Iowa was going to make a run.

We made it worse with, what, 10 turnovers in the serving half?

And then foul trouble played a role.

Credit them for making it a game.

Credit is for making the plays we had to to get to the sweet 16!!!!!

I'm proud as hell of this team.

Would have rather had a much less stressful afternoon.... But when it comes down to it... Can/will you make plays that determine you winning or losing?

Thru 2 games... We have.
It was a different pace for the Vols in the second half. Not sure if that was on the coaches or the players. But there was a different pace.

Why did rick tell them to slow it down? That's what caused problems
I thought it played a part at the end of their come back but during
"The flurry" (as announcers called it) we were *running back down and taking horrific shots or bad passes.
We tried to match their pace when we were still cold, which gave them more chances to score, imo.

But would have to watch again before stating as fact. My emotions were high during.

Don't disagree.

2 things contributed to that imo...1 way too many turnovers for us...2 they made shots and reduced our transition opportunities..

It allowed them to play defense

If we get a game from Kyle where he plays like he played at Missouri or against Wake Forest we will absolutely roll Purdue.

Admiral, Turner, Bowden are all playing very well. Grant had a poor game 1 cause Colgate took him away. Bone has played solid, but he vanished in the 2nd half of the Iowa game hit a clutch 3 in OT though.

So really if we can get something from Kyle, or someone else off the bench offensively we should beat Purdue.

On the season Purdue was 86th in points only averaging 76.1 ppg, and 46th in defense giving up 66.1 ppg. They've had an easy road Old Dominion's offense is absolute garbage ranked 326 and 65.7ppg, Villanova's offense is also below average ranked 140 and 73.7ppg.

I have felt like we do worse against high octane offenses than we do teams that play strong defense, in our losses every team was a top 100 offenses. Kansas was the only team that beat us with a worse offense than Purdue for the season stats, and a lot of that came as they fell apart during the end of the season in league play.

I don't know, we'll be the best offensive team Purdue has faced the entire year. So I'm hoping they play flat with too much confidence from drawing ideal match ups and winning big. We got 5 days and our team is at full health and the next game is closer to home...

Two things: officiating sucked, no doubt and that let Iowa back in, but we played laxidazical in the 2nd half.

To all the “Barnes sucks” crowd: did CRB make lazy passes against the face of the D? Did he not block out causing way to many Iowa Off Reb? The coach sets the strategy and puts guys in place to win, but players HAVE to execute! Survive and advance, but damn my heart is spent.

....one last note: how can Iowa look so unatheletic in the 1st half, then look completely different in the 2nd. Props to them on a nicely played 2nd half

They did the same thing to cinci Friday. Was there to watch, ans it was the exact same thing

Basketball is a game of runs. Always has been. Some of y’all need to record the game and just do something else. See the final score and then watch it later.
Or you could check in on vol nation on random Tuesday mornings...

This.

Bizarre decision. When they ran in the first half there were virtually no turnovers and less fouls called on them because they could set the D up since they were scoring. They played right into Iowa's hands by playing their game in the second half. They let the officials come into play every time they do it.

CRB was not all that good at his job in the second half. The players got out of rhythm and lost their way with all those TO's and phantom foul calls

And I agree with others, time to shorten the bench except in extreme foul situations. There is enough rest only playing twice a week.

Agreed. Feel like we’ve showed improvement in that area the last 2 games (a lot of that has to do with opponent) but still
Iowa bombed Cindy thats how they won. But closeouts were great, anticipation was good. The hedge guy held the ball a second longer allowing the guard to get over the screen. Now we just got to find the roll guy off the pick a little better and things will be ok

We have 5 days until our next game. Turner, Admiral, Schofield, and i would add Bone as well are playing well. The defense got better and we have made adjustments. They will be ready, I'm more scared of the turnaround game on Sunday thats when we struggle more

So out of curiosity I looked at their roster and they have a size advantage so I don’t think we can play small a lot honestly.the best scorer they have averages 23pts the next closes to him is 11 pts so I think getting thier best player in foul trouble is key.purdue is a lot bigger than what I thought.
