**2019 March Madness RF Thread**

I don't think that was plan at all.

Iowa was going to make a run.

We made it worse with, what, 10 turnovers in the serving half?

And then foul trouble played a role.

Credit them for making it a game.

Credit is for making the plays we had to to get to the sweet 16!!!!!

I'm proud as hell of this team.

Would have rather had a much less stressful afternoon.... But when it comes down to it... Can/will you make plays that determine you winning or losing?

Thru 2 games... We have.
Admiral said in interview right after the game that the plan was to slow it down. I agree with @InVOLuntary ...that’s on Rick and is terrible coaching. Continue to do what got you the 21 point halftime lead.

Disappointing day from Rick Barnes in my opinion

Why? In the first half we boatraced a really good team. But anyone who knows anything about college basketball knew the presumptive blowout was an anomaly and they would throw everything they had against us in the second half. And they did. A lesser team would've folded under the pressure. We didn't.

Survive and advance.

Does anyone know of a replay link? Can't find one anywhere. Missed the first 25 mins and really want to see that dominant 1st half. AT&T DVR really f*#&÷& me over!

Yup. I loved his strategy down the stretch of pounding Williams. But he can't control 10+ TOs in ONE half! That was on our guys. Some lazy passes and ballhandling. Credit Iowa as well.

Worst call this season was that foul called on Turner for that clean block on the 3 attempt.

Ref blew the whistle and wasn't even sure if it was a foul. It was a 5 point swing.

Almost cost us the game.
The touch fouls on us in the second half changed how we were defending.

On the other end of the court, Cooks was murdering folks with no calls.

I’m telling y’all our players complain nonstop in first half. Especially Williams. It was like refs were determined to call everything on us.

That was bad, as was no timeout call for Iowa with .6 or .7 left. Didn't think it was a foul on Bowden either when he slapped the ball out with a minute or so to go.

You're correct that was a 5 pt swing, Turner was already leaked out smh

Barnes didn't slow anything down. We were running it in the 1st half because of our defense. It's an energy thing and Barnes has preached it all season, the team gets lazy on defense and then look slow and sloppy on offense.

We play full speed on defense and that energy carries over on offense. Guys run more and cut more and give more effort on offense, because when you force teams to take poor shots and turn them over they get out of the game just like Iowa did in the 1st half and in OT.

Granted Barnes didn't reach them at halftime so we had the same focus to open the 2nd half. And he often waits too long to call timeouts to correct it I think. But playing through Grant is how we win games, the 3 ball is not our strength. 1st half we play with full energy & hit great from 3 = 21 point lead. 2nd half we have zero energy & are cooled off from 3 = tied game

What's killed us is not having a really great bench. Pons hasn't played well since his injury and Fulkerson is too much of a liability on offense to put him in over Kyle or Grant. Ultimately it's about focus & energy. Barnes didn't change the game plan players just lost the focus & energy cause we don't have that "killer" dog like some teams.

And I love this team, but none of them got that really big time killer attitude like Lofton, Morant, or even Zion. Admiral has flashed it when he's pissed off though. Turner also has had a few stretches of it too.

Purdue doesn't scare me at all

Really? They are dang good. Much better b10 team than Iowa, just manhandled the reigning champs, and they are ahead of us in KenPom. Don't let their record fool you. It will be an absolute dogfight.

KenPom:
Purdue - 8
Tennessee - 10

Can't wait to see Zion versus Tacko Fall matchup today.

We are a very similar team to UNC. I think we are slightly more athletic and quicker. UNC is more consistent. We match up well with them. They are solid but not spectacular. Maye is very similar to Grant.

Bone vs White would be a good one. Nassir Little and Admiral as well.
Guarantee you I can tell you what happens...the refs will have Tacko in foul trouble the entire game. He prob won’t play 10-15 mins of the game.

I'm not saying we blow them out but I don't think they are a scary team. They have losses to Minnesota twice, Texas and Notre Dame. Also the Nova team they beat isn't nowhere near the same team that won the national championship last year. This Nova team has been has been extremely inconsistent all year.

hit 'em with the juice!

Nova last season was 36-4 and lost not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 players to the NBA and all 4 were the top 4 scorers for that championship team. Nova was in a rebuild year and Purdue drew the softest 6 seed in the whole tournament.
