If you are a person who cares at all about people in these cities who are not responsible for their rotting, you should not agree with this take.

So how are Republicans going to make Baltimore better for its black citizens. Capital gains tax cuts? Awesome! I'm sure that'll benefit the occupants of the homes we saw in that ad. Cuts to Medicare and Medicaid? Brilliant! That'll clean those slums. Further cuts to education? Fantastic! What better way for poor black kids to learn than using dated and tattered textbooks in a crumbling, mold-infested school. I'm glad the GOP is the party of ideas!

The sooner you realize that pretty much no one in Washington actually GAS about these cities the better off you’ll be. Where the real failure lies is with local leadership.

Agreed. They’re all more about optics than substance. Trump has done a good job of convincing people he’s “real” because he tweets without a filter but he has certainly done plenty of things for optics rather than substance as well. Let’s not forget, 4 years ago Trump was on the other side of the fence working with these same politicians he argues with on whatever shady, back door deals needed to help fatten his wallet.
