2020 Presidential Race

Yeah I think so I don't know much about them I was an intel guy. We had the one track vehicle and had a couple 11B's to drive it in our section. But just about all of us got licensed on it before we deployed just in case.
Interesting... you had infantry to drive the track I’d figure that was an armor MOS 🤷‍♂️

So you see all that smoke from the muzzle when the gun is firing?

When the A-10 fires the GAU-8 30mm cannon the airplane slows for two reasons.

One the force of the recoil has a deceleration affect on the aircraft.

Two, and more important, the smoke is choking out the engines 😂 the fix was when the guns fire the hit the igniters on the engines to immediately re-light them.

Good thing it only carries a few seconds worth of ammo at a continuous firing usage.
Another interesting fact about the A-10 is that there is an entire autopilot system called Enhanced Attitude Control designed to keep the aircraft stable during the insane forces on the vehicle as a result of the recoil from the GAU-8. Basically, it enables the pilot to keep guns on the target without the aircraft losing control.

The A-10 is an amazing feat of engineering.

Not 1st ***... we did work

My brother flew F-106s and F-15s at Tyndall and Langley (94th) - kinda weird two tours at each. He really liked both planes - didn't even mind the O-2 as a FAC in Panama in between or the EB-57 as a first assignment. However, when he got paired up with an Army unit in Korea, he wrote and asked me if I had been out of my mind years earlier when I quit UT and joined the Army.

493rd at Lakenheath by any chance? That was my dad's WW2 squadron - he only flew a few combat missions late in the war when they were in France and Belgium. They trained at Tullahoma - that's how he met my mother.

I promise to knock it off. It's just an interesting topic to me, and could have been so much more interesting if the military didn't take such a dim view of nearsighted people - sure ruined the career path I had picked out by the time I was 6.

48th FS at my time 1999 -2002. I worked in an underground bunker for 3 years in England weather. When I wasn’t deployed. That’s an amazing story!
I love then kinship!
