I agree that Trump probably would have, but not the majority of the Republican party. I doubt they expected him to win. When Hillary lost, the Democratic party lost their minds.

Didn't Donald Trump spend much of the 2016 Presidential campaign telling his supporters to not trust the results of the election (if he lost) ? "The system if rigged, folks!" was a persistently spoken line from Trump during his campaign rallies throughout September and October of 2016. It wasn't meant as a joke, either. Trump's purpose was to undermine the legitimacy of the election and to cast doubt on the validity of the results, so in case he lost, the defeat wouldn't hurt his brand image with his supporters. It was very selfish and egotistical of him.

Didn't Obama say our elections couldn't be hacked? It's a double-edge sword that swings both ways.

With any political pole, your methodology should include party or independent identification. Otherwise, you could just call the haters or likers and invalidate the pole. So I wanted to look into why Dems are typically sampled at higher rates, especially since we are such a closely divided nation.

There is no way Harris would beat Trump, so looking at the pole on page 19, they sampled self identified Dems at 8 points greater, and only 12% who identify as Independent. A 12% Independent rate seems inappropriately low and seems to fly in the face of conventional wisdom. Ironically enough I have to cite another pole to clarify party affiliation since 2004. This seems to more appropriately represent the constituency, with Dems holding a slight lead. Even the Independent leans are fairly even.
