I can't conceive of a progressive (which I consider myself to be) sitting out the election with full knowledge that by doing so, they increase the chances of 4 more years of Trump. I would take a centrist any day, every day over Trump.I see this statement all the time and I strongly disagree. What killed Hillary was that she was an uninspiring corporate neoliberal candidate who alienated her progressive base (which is far larger than people assume). If we have another centrist candidate that tries to convince moderate white people who have “trump fatigue” rather than a candidate who can inspire the base, it will be 2016 all over again. Trump won because he got people excited and out to vote.
Welcome to my 2016. But I still find it worth saving. Now should Trump win in 2020, that would be the proverbial nail in the coffin. If Warren,Sanders,Booker,Harris etc.. can not only win the nomination but win a general election then I will know the country I once loved is lost and no longer worth saving.
