2021 College World Series Game Discussion Thread: Bracket 1 and Bracket 2 (excluding Tennessee)

I’ll throw in the 70s as well. Lots of characters back then. Kirby and Drew would have fit in very well back then.
Born in ‘78, so I can’t really weigh in on the 70’s.
Probably mid 80’s is when I can recall my first real sports memories.
Guys like Ripken, Sandberg, Mattingly, strawberry, Ozzie Smith.
I grew up a Braves fan and Dale Murphy is my favorite but I always liked those Mets teams with Strawberry and Gooden. I don’t guess I really understood rivalries at a young age and didn’t know that it was a sin to be a Braves AND a Mets fan.🤷‍♂️
I guarantee I’m the only one you’ll ever find.
GBO!!

Got Murph's auto at a signing event at Northgate Mall in Chattanooga back in the mid 80's as a teenager. I feel you.

I'll never forget Lasorda putting a dollar in the jar everytime Sax successfully threw a 15 foot toss from second to first. It was one of the few things a Braves fan could make fun of LA for.

70s were amazing. 72-74 A’s and 75-76 Big Red Machine are two of the all time great teams.

Characters galore. Bill Spaceman Lee. Dock Ellis throwing a no hitter while on acid. Mark the Bird Fidrych.

I'll pass, but admit to watching Yogi jump into Don Larsen's arms after a perfect game in the '56 World Series.

I saw the Big Red Machine quite a few times kick my Cardinals ass in both St. Louis and Cincy. All of those guys are among my all time favorite players, especially Bench and Morgan. Walked with Morgan from a fundraiser in SF to a theater for a play, he was so nice.

Rose was my 2nd favorite player behind Brock until the betting thing. He is a friend of mine’s godfather. Her Dad was a pitcher for the Red’s back then.

I have never heard that Ellis story before. That’s crazy! I just googled it and watched some highlights. Thanks for telling me about that.

Yeah, that was a helluva team!!!

Tip of the cap to Willie Stargell, Dave Parker and crew, that was an absolute blast!!!
Now I liked me some Dave Parker too! Concepcion, Rose, those guys were fun to watch.
Txbo will get a kick out of this, another one of my favorites was José Cruz. For some reason, I had a Jose Cruz Astro’s jersey when I was little. No idea why a kid in Knoxville TN had a Cruz jersey, but I did.

You guys are making me want to break out my throwback jersey collection and start wearing them again. Pete Rose, Willie Stargell, Nolan Ryan, Harold Baines, Murphy, Strawberry, Ozzie Smith, Reggie Jackson. I don’t know where my José Cruz jersey is though.😂

Watching the ‘77 World Series and what Reggie did was absolutely amazing.
