This one makes the most sense. Texas is a higher seed and would play in the prime time slot. Against Miss State.

Anyone know how often a team has come from the loser's bracket to win the CWS? Seems like the finals series sitting almost on top of the two brackets makes it nearly impossible for a team that loses a game to have a shot at winning it all.

I was curious on this, so I went back through the last 10 CWS dating back to 2010. There are 20 teams that made it to the Championship Series, and here is how their paths break down:

Lost 1st game and then won 4 straight: 2
Won 1st game but lost 2nd game: 4
Won 1st 2 games: 4
Won 3 straight (never lost prior to Champ Series): 10

Both of the teams that lost game 1 and then ended up making the championship series went on to win the whole thing (2010 South Carolina and 2018 Oregon State).

4 team double ellimination just like Regionals.

Winners of those meet for a best of three series.

So you don’t lose one and out? Good! The finale should be 3 out of five IMHO. These young athletes work so hard to get here. I would hate to see any team have one really bad game and go home. Lose two or three...you had a fair shot.

I don't hate the idea, but these schools don't have the pitching for it.

The championship series starts it over, so even if you lose 1 in your 4-team bracket and the other team won 3 straight without losing, it's still best of 3 in the championship series. Best of 5 is way too taxing on a college pitching staff.
