2021 Lady Vol Recruiting Thread

To Whom It May Concern,

Since I’ve perused the ever changing degree of these ‘knowledge’ filled forums, I decided to create an account. In doing so, cheers to my first post. I came across this article via Twitter, and felt it was worth a share. ENJOY!
Tennessee Lady Vols tied for lead in top 100 commits for 2021

Sooo, ummmm, did you intend to come across as snarky when you placed the word knowledge in quotes? lol

Tennessee Lady Vols tied for lead in top 100 commits for 2021

Article:
Now, here’s where the real story kicks in. Rocky Top is one of only four women’s basketball schools that currently have three top 100 players committed. The other three are the UConn Huskies, the Syracuse Orange and the West Virginia Mountaineers.

Of those three, only UConn has two five-stars committed. Syracuse and West Virginia each have one along with two four-stars. As a result, at this moment, UConn is the only school that definitively has a better recruiting class than the Lady Vols.

Love it! Don’t know how this will all shake out, but this is a fantastic first full recruiting class for Kellie, her Assistant Coaches, and Recruiting Assistants!

Nice first post, and Welcome.

Have we shown any interest in consensus #25 pg Kyndall Hunter out of the Houston area? I believe both she and Rori Harmon (headed to Texas) both started as freshmen for Cypress Creek. No schools listed for her...is she staying in state? Sounds like a really good prospect.

I’m pretty sure our focus has narrowed down to Miles and McPherson, but you’re correct, not much is out on Hunter .

I was intrigued to know more about Hunter and have been favorably impressed by her work ethic and focus. There's a sharp little long-form video about her that runs about 15 minutes that was shot when she was in 8th grade (she would start in high school as a freshman). Her coaches and trainer speak very highly of her leadership skills and her pass-first orientation and how she is more thrilled by assists than points, although she is a clutch scorer (when Rori Harmon was suspended during this year's state tournament's last three ganes, Kyndall stepped up to lead the team with 24 pts. in the semifinal victory).

Her attitude seems ideal for a PG even though she also played the 2 when Harmon was in. Her trainer...who played PG professionally...said she had the confidence to run the team, rarely got rattled, looked to make her teammates shine, was a player others loved to play with, and could score when needed. And for those for whom it matters, her social media indicates that she is very grounded spiritually.

Sounds like a familiar Lady Vol who sports three championship rings.

My thinking is that Miles will commit way before McPherson and we certainly will be glad to have a great players like Miles on our team. She has the quickness of any player in the class and her offensive skills can be developed quickly at the college level. I have felt strongly for a long time that Miles is very interested in Tennessee haven't heard anything on McPherson but Coach Jumper has given us some information that she is interested in us. My thinking the first to commit is who will be our point guard and right now I feel that Miles is that player.

I don’t know if it was coincidence or Coach Jumper really was on to something but we hadn’t even been mentioned with this young lady then Coach Kellie Harper was mentioned in an article for coming to see Kayla. I know Kellie is doing due diligence in putting in the work and seeing and contacting her but I feel like their may be more mutual interest because TN just seemingly popped up in the convo. Maybe it’s nothing but I just got the sense TN may make her top 10.

I would wait on a talent like McPherson but would he really happy with Miles. With Miles I’m sure KY is out of the pic as they will have 3 PGs ahead of her when she arrives on campus.

The attractive thing about TN is that there is a clear need for a PG to play along side Jordan. Jordan has Played with high level PGs on team like Van Lith, Bueckers, Cooke, osbourne so she can still distribute with others playing the pg role.

As most on this forum are aware , I read and write about every recruit named or mentioned! That being said : Kayla McPherson was never talked about until just recently..... 4 or 5 other point guards but not her ? This shows me that Kelly and other coaches are keeping recruit information very close to their vests and you don’t hear the rumors like with Holly ! I enjoyed the rumor mills but I can appreciate what is going on now ..... I’ll keep looking and hopefully we continue to get bigger and better in the near future...🤔

You’re right and it’s exciting that a player of her caliber has TN on their radar as sad as that sounds.

There are a lot of new posters and we don't know much if anything about them. Shouldn't we have a thread for introductions? It would be better to know something....

Maybe we should interrogate them, like in Basis Instincts......

I do have a good source that says we have an inside track, but I also know that with each day Brooklynn seems to have new suitor colleges lining up...she is no longer a secret.

If I hear anything I will definitely let you know

Broken record here, but I hope we at least pursued/looked into Kyndall Hunter. I really like her passing skills, crossover, stepback three, anticipation in passing lanes, quick hands, speed in transition, ability to protect ball and draw contact (and still finish!) on layups. Wicked Eurostep, too.

Very impressed with her poise and maturity. Seems very serious about work ethic while being playful and fun with teammates. Her team that included fellow 4-year starter Rori Harmon went 41-1. Hunter scored 31 in semis and 24 in championship game without Harmon (correcting my earlier post).

Found out that she has offers from at least 24 schools including Louisville, Texas, Rice, TAMU, and LSU. Good height, too, at 5'8".

May not be any mutual interest, but a boy can dream!

The film on McPherson is really good. Could see her having a huge impact.

I plead the 5th 😘. I’m also a teacher, so connotation and denotation is bread and butter. The interpretation is merely up to the reader, which case and point, is thought provoking and engaging.

the phrase is not "case and point," it is, 'case-in-point.'
Suggested usage is then, "The interpretation is merely up to the reader, in this case-in-point, it is thought-provoking and engaging."

Mind-bogglin' ain't it?

Both would be impactful.

At this point if I were any of the remaining potential recruits, I'd be climbing onboard before the trolley has to shut the door

or to put it another way

At this juncture of indefinite continued progressions of existence and events, being an expected or expecting to be "particular" in the future collegiate competitive environment of women's NCAA basketball, embarking the streetcar of opportunity would be my incentive to actions of immediate spontaneity in an attempt to circumnavigate opportunistic omission.

Tough to take a player based on need when you think you have a good shot at a difference maker in that role. Part of the art in recruiting is managing it so you can let it play out with the difference maker. Would be exciting to land that kid.

Exactly!

This is the very definition of recruiting ...
filling the spot(s) will not be the measure of success,,,filling it with the right players, will be.
