Actually just 1 Junior, but 6 sophomores
SR: Fulk, Anosike, Pons
JR: Bailey
SO: Plavsic, James, Vescovi, ORN, Gaines, Pember
FR: Springer, Johnson, Walker
Seems a bit naive to think they all fulfill their eligibility at Tennessee
Yea, Plavsic is convoluted. A year at ASU, didn't play. Transfers mid-year without sitting out. I don't know if TN has to formally apply for an extra year or not. Sometimes he's listed as a 2019-20 Sophomore. The NCAA is inconsistent and unpredictable.
Point being it’s impossible to project this far out, Pember and/or Gaines or even ORN taking a redshirt changes that picture up.Still high probability of 5 or more spots to fill in 2023. 5 or 6 in the current class and KJ, JS, JJJ, or other spots could be filled by transfers or JUCOs. Even departures from the rising sophomores could be filled by players with equivalent eligibility.
Huntley 4 and Paolo 5?I added BHH to the list as he’s expected to reclassify, and I definitely think Tennessee would be in full support of that.
Also, NCAA extended dead period through July 31st, that pretty much will put a bow on any live periods for AAU season. IMO that’s going to mean a lot of guys are going to focus on the schools that have been there, and not many new offers will go out like you usually would see this time of year. As long as there is CFB and students on campus I would expect OV’s to be allowed, but definitely going to be a case where getting guys on campus as juniors and having some early work put in could be huge.
Banchero, Smith and Chandler have all officially visited Tennessee. BHH, Ingram, and John Butler have all previously UOV’d to Tennessee.
This is insane that we are in good to really good shape with at least 3 of the top 10. When we hired Barnes, I thought we’d land a guy here and there from this pool of talent, but I didn’t envision multiple 5 stars per year type of recruiting. It doesn’t appear that he’s going back to the 3-star build ‘em up strategy.#2 Paolo Banchero
#4 Chet Holmgren
#5 Jabari Smith
#7 Brandon Huntley-Hatfield*
#10 Kennedy Chandler
#13 Harrison Ingram
#19 Hunter Sallis
#23 Charles Bediako
#29 Trey Patterson
#56 John Butler
#58 Micawber Etienne
#60 Carter Whitt
#80 Ryan Mutombo
#83 KJ Adams
NR Gabe Dorsey
*currently in the class of ‘22, but is expected to reclassify into ‘21 class
Any more talk on his possible transfer to a Knoxville school?I added BHH to the list as he’s expected to reclassify, and I definitely think Tennessee would be in full support of that.

One new name in the 2022 Class that Tennessee is starting to get deeply involved with is Caleb Houstan, a 6-foot-8 forward at Montverde Academy in Florida. Originally from Canada, he’s a long, versatile forward and currently ranked the No. 5 player in the 2022 class.
-VQTennessee will have some ties to this recruitment through assistant coach Des Oliver, who is from Buffalo and is wired into the Canadian basketball scene through contacts in that area. Houstan is also a strong candidate to move into the 2021 class.
I would guess there won’t be much movement there until all this is over
It's going to be a horrible year for any student who is "new" to a school. Meeting and making friends will be filled with obstacles. Manditory masks will make identification difficult, lunchtime will be done 6 feet apart so conversations will be limited, and with no physical contact allowed, all the casual rites of male bonding, horseplay, etc. will be verbotten.
