2022 Recruits

I don't feel so giddy about the 22' class just because too many unknowns. I think the new asst coaches will get it done in tandem with kellie because the recruiting coordinator is working and it just relying on the TN name. That's the nicest way i can put it about her. A lot of these 22s are late to the TN party and that's because the new coaches contacted them or reignited convo that had died down and shouldn't have.

There is also always negative recruiting by other coaches and TN has been dragged through the mud by some coaches to be made to look like a bad place. That's all i'm saying because this turns into a politics thing and that's what i do not want to happen!

who do I have to fight?

Taniya Latson is committing at 12 today....if I had to bet on it it would be Florida State

her final 4 is Texas,UGA,Florida State,& NC State

Yes! and if you don't have enough lift you better have great form.

I think Jordy H knows and wants to be great i also think she has a little dawg in her so she wants to prove how good she can be.

Walkers shot didnt look bad but often cams off the front rim.

Just watched several of her videos and really like her game. Definitely not the most athletic player on the floor but she gets it done. You can tell her defenders are not having fun. She keeps them on their toes and gives great fakes to set up herself or her teammates. Sometimes that goes further than being lightening fast or jumping out the building.

Would also say she reminds me a bit of Kelsey Plum in some way. Just good basketball smarts, Kelsey got most of her shots just being a better ball player, not so much better athlete. She was accused of being slow as well, but we see how it turned out for her.

Looks like Paulina needs a little mid-range though. Do think she’ll have trouble scoring at the rim at the next level like she was in the videos.

Don't you think she has a little Becky Hammon and now that you said it I think Kelsey Plum and Becky both found similar ways to get open and were gritty

Yes definitely, she has that tough, blue collar look. She gets you with that look away like Becky always did. Half the defense would bite on the head fake and she’d go to the rim and hit an easy layup. Saw that several times in her film.

Has that same triple threat attitude that Becky had too, always stays squared up ready to take what the D gives her. Leave me open outside? Gonna knock it down. Give me a lane to the rim? Thank you very much.

That was Becky’s gift, made it look easy because she always took the great shot, not the good one.

I will also say this ... Kellie may have lost out on a recruit or 2 this cycle because she will NOT promise starting spots or playing time. So, she has been reported as pulling some offers..,

I like that very much. Any kid demanding that is a problem to begin with. Lots of coaches lie and then back out on it once they are there. Creates unnecessary drama and transfers in your program.

I look at our current roster and it could be described as underwhelming or under the radar, but I really think we’re going to have a nice season. We have a really balanced roster with a bunch of level headed kids. Basketball is a team sport and Kellie really seems to hammer home that team dynamic.

Only way you’re gonna be a star in Knoxville is if you earn it within the system. Same as when Pat was around.

Amen... Also don't look for athletes from certain AAU clubs to go here.

These college coaches get in these AAU coaches ear and some of these AAU coaches are plants to steer kids away from certain program.

So i think Coach Sam and Coach Joy will be busting up these circles soon enough. 😂

When you have a recruiting coordinator not getting out there to squash rumors and do the dirty work it puts you behind the 8 ball and Imma just say it Goldwire was NOT pulling her weight or fully committed to working how you would expecting a person in her position here.

UT has had a long spell of no growth under first CHW and now starting to get back to a bright spot with Coach K.

Even Coach K's growth, re the team took a couple of seasons, as Holly's damage was less about construction, as she did get top recruits, but the detriment of non-growth and even declining skills of the recruits she did get left an impression that hurt the program and was easily used against it by competing coaches to get the higher ranked recruits.

Basketball is the most "what have you done for me lately" sport of all the sports and since 2012 it has only been in the upper-middle elite as far as the fanbase would grade it.

I believe Coach K will turn it around and I believe NOW she has the right staff to do so. She doesn't have a bunch of "yes ma'am'ers" around her like holly did. She has coaches who coach and are active and visible and more importantly, stronger in personas and personalities. This is what it takes to win at the highest level,,,coaching with stronger personalities than their charges.

Much will be learned this year about Coach K,,,she now has a hand-picked and thought out staff,,,recruits that are chosen by and for purpose and a fanbase that wants to see her succeed (except for darth). This is her third season and to me, it should be the visible turning point of a coach for a collegiate team. It takes four years to totally take control of a college program and on year 5 it IS that coach's team fully.

I am fully confident in Striplin, Wynn, Puckett and Miles as a strong nucleus of growth...Now it is time to get a couple of marquee recruits and get back to being the once feared TN Lady Vols.

The problem was Holly not her staff. She had one of the best staffs at one point. After the fallout with Kyra Elzy over the recruiting and ect she brought in Sharrona Reaves who was the best recruiter TN has had since Pat ?. And Coach Jumper we agree to disagree and i respect all your posts. (except for darth):D LOL

UGA has already been eliminated. We were at #4. I am hearing Florida State.
for Taniya I could just tell that she was going to Florida state no insider info needed cuz she was dropping clues left and right and it seemed like she enjoyed her official visit to Florida State and the staff there went above and beyond for her on that visit that I saw on social media

Other than a power forward four type elite players or maybe even center were fine for 2022. There is always the portal she could've got more than Dye if she had wanted to they were in there for the taking. I think she is totally satisfied with the roster for this season probably think she needs to add some inside help for 2022 as Key will be a senior. I think were still having to debate whether Emily is up to playing at the SEC level will find out this season. Green's last season so were needing inside players for the 2022 roster. Portal totally going to load up comes March of a lot of players that don't even know it yet. Sitting on the bench when you think you are a player becomes tedious very quickly.

If we have connections in New Jersey would should've been in on Tabatha Amaze terrific post in the 2022 class. I believe she is an elite post somebody will get a top player in her.

i believe coach Sam is reestablishing those connections as we are in talks with a top post of out of the area/country

Paulina Paris that just decommitted from Penn State had an enormous offer sheet of schools. I wouldn't be to concerned about her speed because she averaged over 10 field goals made per game in high school that is difficult to do as a point guard or playing any position. Anyone that can average ten field goals per game and 23 a game from the point guard position can play. KK Bransford supposedly a Notre Dame lean still has not committed to them. She follows Harper and Tennessee basketball probably doesn't mean anything, but if she likes Notre Dame you wonder why she still hasn't committed. Cooper and Buggs I don't think look promising for us and expect that Whitehorn stays up north. I like Joyner think the services are underrating her. Smith taking visits right now should make a decision soon.
I like the players we've recruited in 2021 and 2022 but we need some physical bigs real soon. This is where were coming up short IMO. Physical inside players are the difference makers that is where a player like Amaze, Smith or Watkins would be huge for our future. Maybe we'll get a international player or someone we don't know about have to get them to be successful.

A lot of the ND/Stanford players have to pass a certain test or have certain academic requirements met before gaining entrance which may be the hold up in KK's cash, she probably doesn't want to commit and if she doesn't have all the requirements, miss out on the opportunity to attend her 2nd or 3rd choice.

UGA was her 4th choice?
UGA has a tough time with kids from FBC. We have a difficult time with that program. Mikayla Coombs, Kasi, Raven, and others are from there and Joni is trying to change their perception of the program. I thought that getting Coombs to UGA would change their thoughts on UGA, but it has not just yet. Joni has made some headway with Coach Mo and others, but there is still a ways to go. They want to see Joni do it consistently. I do think Joni is going to bring in another very solid class in 2022.
