2022 Recruits

Coach i hear you Ouch ! Also what are our needs you think ? i say post pg ?

Unless Miles matures really fast it will be Jordan and Jordan again...ALthough I am a fan of both, JH to me is a perfect fit for a SF if taught thatposition and JW is still wearing that brace...that said, yes I would shop for a PG and a back-to-the-basket post,,,a true 5 !

I don't twitter, or even have a smart phone......

I wanted you to log on and look at my account. See this girl I am working with,,,I put a few clips together of our morning and they were too big to download here

Were hurting at point guard still our worst position on the team. The four was also a problem last season, but I feel like we solved it for this season. The point has to be far better than last year and that would mean huge improvement from Walker and Horston.

Looks like she follows Florida, West Virginia, Maryland, and Clemson. I didn't see anything Tennessee for this player. Looks like were going all in on Cooper maybe some point guard we don't know about and if that fails on to the portal and 2023.

Vaughn is the real deal no a lot of press because they have a very good HS team to.

It’s baffling. Head coach was a PG as well. Hopefully we haven’t gotten any traction because recruits think Horsten has that locked down for two years and not a larger issue. You’d think we could sell JH as a better fit at the 2/3.

Perhaps, some PG recruits believe that Brooklynn is the heir apparent to the PG spot.

What we have to remember is JH was hobbled by several issues last year and when she was recruited #2 guard in the country, she was recruited as a PG...That said, I look for a much different JH this year. She made some spectacular passes last year and if fully healthy, she WILL be the answer to this proposed subject.

I’m agreeing that JH could be why we’ve struggled in 21 and apparently in 22. She is a good player but those scouting reports don’t describe her handle or define her as a PG. She’s a combo at best. Regardless, we are going to need a high level creator soon though..

I think she has a higher upside at PG than the other options IF she can quarterback the team on the floor and can get the opponents to fear her 3 pt shot. Otherwise, I think she's better as a 3/4.

Guys so far Horston's career has been less than spectacular....Perhaps if she has healed from her injuries she will play better, but until she stops with the wayward passes, I'm not real hopeful...

Has she developed an outside shot yet? We shall see in a few months.

If we could see the Jordon Horston that played against Kentucky in the SEC tournament her freshman year at the PG position, that position would be solved. She was fantastic in that game at the PG position and i think she dropped like 24 points and was 4/7 from the 3. Had a few turnovers, but played her heart out. I want to see that Jordon and we would be competing for a championship this year with the other pieces that we have. I think Jordon played pretty banged up last year and it had a major effect on her overall game. I think we will see that 5-star recruit at her best this year. Just my prediction!

I agree need to cut down on the turnovers, Last night i re watched the SEC tournament game against OLD Miss and in that game we had 12 turnovers in the first half 4 Walker 3 Horston. You are correct Horston turnovers due to bad passes. Now with Walker a different story she was just scared of the OLD Miss Pressure. If anyone watched that game will see. Old miss knew that`s a weakness of TN and looks for more teams to follow ?

Horston has the talent to be as good as any point guard in the league. I hope she finds her game this season. I like the way we can go big or small on the perimeter this season and matchup against anybody. This wasn't the case last season.

Yes she the talent to be as good as any point guard in the league. But if you can`t handle the pressure of teams like OLD Miss, SC or teams that like to press then there is a problem not just Horton Walker to . We can talk about how much talent we have all day and all night long. But at the end of the day it`s all about the matchups and that`s a fact. I see it when i travel to watch girls HS basketball we can agree to disagree.
Thank You for the post,

That is where Miles and Wynn come in to the picture for those matchups. When we play teams with smaller players they have to make a difference for us next season.

I get it but you can`t short change the other team that will cause a match up problem for TN. Every team in the country will rave about there new comers and how good they look in practice and they should. But think Miles and Wynn will be able to handle that man to man pressure OLD Miss likes to throw at you is questionable at best at this time ?. Just my opinion.

We handled their pressure last season and won the games we played against them. As I remember we forced them into more turnovers than we committed. The team that gave us fits was Georgia on the perimeter. As far as Miles and Wynn their ability to handle the ball is their strong point. They may be suspect as perimeter shooters but I have no concerns about their ability to handle and pass the basketball.

No one is saying they don`t have the ability to handle the ball. What i`m you can`t short change the other teams ability and what they bring to the table. Yes we beat OLD Miss but they had a chance to win both games. No one is saying Miles and Wynn will not be good players but right now we should dial back some of the hype without seeing them against the top teams or SEC. As for shooters even Rae found out how hard it is to get a shot off against tight pressure Cooke shut her down but we did win that game good. But right now i`m not ready to put this team on cloud 9 without seeing them in a game. Just my opinion I enjoy all your post. :) Thank You

SEC games are always going to be decided by just a few plays. No one is saying which games we will win or lose just saying were far more better equipped this season to handle pressure than we were last season. The SEC is so close in talent teams 2 thru about 8 that any result could occur. This meaning depending on breaks and someone making a play or two to decide a game any team of about six could finish from second to as low as 8th. That is how competitive the SEC will be this season. Road games will be very hard to win since Ole Miss is a road game I give them the edge in that game. I give us the edge in all 8 of our home games and hoping for a few wins on the road even 4 and 4 would be a good result.

I don't think @Volfan2012 is downplaying Ole Miss i even think they said in an earlier post they give them the edge since it's at home. I hope that's not true but i believe Ole Miss has to win those types of game for NCAA tourney purposes. We have to go get some road games this year.

Ole miss will be a tough out this year. However just like other teams their pieces (which they have a lot of) have to fit. You also have to remember they brought in players and there are a lot of them who will want playing time. Their athleticism is def not in question and they will put pressure on a lot of teams in the SEC.

While she hasn't played consistently at this level Dye often has brought the ball up to relieve pressure from her clips and in one of the videos Kellie was encouraging her to get the ball and gave her permission to help bring it up.

If Walker has more confidence and more efficient we are a different team. As always this is respectfully said.
