2022 Recruits

Strickland and especially Puckett said very little during and after their recruitment.

Which is fine. Iā€™m just saying the head coach isnā€™t the one ā€œbroadcastingā€ who they are on and the status anywhere. Maybe you can insist and keep a lid on what recruits and those around them put out for marginal kids but not often for elite kids in this era.

Have not visited:

KK Bransford (1)
Talaysia Cooper (5) (visiting in September)

Amiya Jenkins (29) (visiting 10-12 September)
Kyla Oldacre (5) (visiting in September)

Revised to add Kyla and Ryanne
Could we be looking at a possible four-person 2022 class: Pissott; Oldacre; Jenkins or Cooper; and Allen?

Who knows for sure? I think Kellie wants at least a PG or guard and a big to go with Justine. If she doesn't get who she wants out of the recruiting class, there's always the possibility the right skill set and fit might be found in the portal but it looks to me she wants to recruit 4 year players.......but I could be wrong.

Oldacre out of Ohio has plenty of offers ! Getting one of her five official visits is a positiveā€¦. Jenkins out of Kentucky is ranked very low and close to UK ! But we got the best player in Kentucky last year (Miles) so thatā€™s a good possibility? But Cooper from South Carolina (a top 20 player) ! I donā€™t think Dawn will let that one out of the state ? JMO

PSā€¦. This would give us a guard and a big to go with Justineā€¦.. Just Saying

What the staff is trying to do with this class.
Wing Forward 3/4 type player Justine Pissott accomplished
Point Guard Combo Guard Cooper, Jenkins, Allen, Bransford I think they would take two guards if more than one on the list wanted to commit. Two will be the max and one is acceptable conclusion.
Post player Oldacre, Smith, Joyner Definitely want a post player might take two and only one guard if commitments went that way.

Max class four Three an acceptable class Less than three would be somewhat of a recruiting failure because it would mean we did not get a player at a defined position of need.

There may be more post players that we are recruiting that are unknown and possibly a guard or two also. I think we find a way to get three players hopefully from the first choice players.

I think we would definitely take four out of those five players and you could include several others on the list. We have the wing committed need at least one guard and one post the other could go either way.

Iā€™m excited to see how Justine transitions and will she truly be a wing player or a hybrid 4ā€¦ The only player I can think of at 6ā€™4+ who legit plays most all the time in the wing on both ends of the court and is successful is Dewanna Bonner.

If she is the player that this staff wants her to be, she will not fit in a box. She will be a player that can defend anyone on the court competently. She will stretch the floor with her three-point shooting. She'll be able to drive and kick against an overextended defense. She'll hold her own on the boards, and she'll play smart and not turn the ball over.

The one thing I don't think she'll ever be is a back to the basket player.

Agree. I hope she continues to learn post moves and become as versatile as possible without losing her shot. However, defense and ball handling at her size may be good/great at the hs level and become hood/great at the college level but when you cross into the pros how does that continue to translate. She has a huge future ahead of her just something to think about/observe as we count down the days until sheā€™s joined the team.

I also hope no one takes my initial post negatively. Because itā€™s definitely not meant that way

I was talking about the perfect hybrid 4 ... it's EDD . Bonner plays on the wing more but EDD is wayyy more efficient

Very true. She could be a perfect hybrid 4(Iā€™d hesitate to compare to EDD or Stewie because itā€™s a tall order for anyone) but she could be the next generation of players of that moldā€¦ the PISSOTTā€™s of the world.

i would love that! i wonder how tall she actually is? she looks tall when i see her play but who knows lol ... i'd say at least 6'3" honestly

Years ago, when Breanna Stewart was coming to the Huskies from High School, I would check the Boneyard to try and get a feel of what she would mean to that team and their program...

I would marvel at the range this tall girl had and how her very presence appeared to bolster their program...They knew whenever Stewart got the ball she was capable of draining a long 3 ball, or coming inside for a driving lay up, or a jump shot at the elbow....

Now we will have our own tall young lady that is going to write the history books in favor of the LVs...A history that will show the deepest of 3 ball is common place for her, and there will be no place on the offensive side of the court that will not be within her range.

I expect during her senior year her fame will only grow, and grow, and many will desire her for their team...The girl with the flying ponytail is all Lady Vol.
