2022 Recruits

Years ago, when Breanna Stewart was coming to the Huskies from High School, I would check the Boneyard to try and get a feel of what she would mean to that team and their program...

I would marvel at the range this tall girl had and how her very presence appeared to bolster their program...They knew whenever Stewart got the ball she was capable of draining a long 3 ball, or coming inside for a driving lay up, or a jump shot at the elbow....

Now we will have our own tall young lady that is going to write the history books in favor of the LVs...A history that will show the deepest of 3 ball is common place for her, and there will be no place on the offensive side of the court that will not be within her range.

I expect during her senior year her fame will only grow, and grow, and many will desire her for their team...The girl with the flying ponytail is all Lady Vol.

I’m glad we have JP. But that comparison as a recruit only works from a size standpoint. BS was a can’t miss top of class kid every top program wanted.

Thanks for that, I’m excited to see her suit up for the team.

I suggested a couple of things for her to concentrate on: moving into the line of a drive instead of trying to swipe at it from the side as the driver went by and closing out with the low body instead of standing vertical on her closeouts,,,I also complimented her on her defensive footwork as it was much improved over this past year

My newest prodigy, a 2026'er is going to be a top 100 player before she even enters HS...Looking forward to coaching her this Saturday in the E-80 games

I’m seeing a common theme…people talk about all these new possibilities for the 2022 class and that player then commits elsewhere….so it’s then time to talk about how we didn’t have enough time to recruit the 2022 players but we will kill it in 2023…I sure hope so!

Coaches know what they need we'll see if they get those players. Would like to have a post and top guard. We can't judge how it went until signing day gets here. No one is signed players that are committed can change their minds other players can become candidates and receive offers. Quite positive we have two or three players that are not listed by anyone on an offer sheet. Still very confident we'll get the players we need.

While I can respect on some level your dogged insistence on declaring anything Lady Vol as the best regardless of circumstance or detail, sometimes I just don't get it. I hope she's a good player, but comparing her to Stewart and claiming she'll rewrite the history books ... whoookaaaaaaay.

I’d agree that time isn’t a good excuse with 22s. But, coach did clean house of the assistants that don’t live with her most likely based largely on lack of traction with the type of players needed to compete for championships in 2022. I’ve expected impact in 2022 but one of them hadn’t been on the big time circuit for two years. Still hopeful for 22 but it has to happen by 23.

Fair assessment. I'm very interested in how 22 closes. *If* we strikeout, 23 is absolutely make-or-break.

OK OK what i ment is the state is heavy from top to bottom with very good players.

Just having a little fun. We only tease with friends!

I totally agree with your serious basketball point that NC is loaded with some serious talent. Now to see if Banghart can win games with them.
