2022 Recruits

I’d agree that time isn’t a good excuse with 22s. But, coach did clean house of the assistants that don’t live with her most likely based largely on lack of traction with the type of players needed to compete for championships in 2022. I’ve expected impact in 2022 but one of them hadn’t been on the big time circuit for two years. Still hopeful for 22 but it has to happen by 23.

Too bad Tennessee is the only program that has had assistant coaching changes. And the only program that has to deal with recruiting during a pandemic.

At a certain point, it's time to stop grasping at the current, most convenient excuse du jour and start looking at the common denominator. That point is quickly coming, if it isn't here already...

I didn't know Tennessee was the only school for which the 2022 class is officially complete already. How did that happen, do ya reckon?

That's the spirit. Still lots of fringe sixth, seventh place options on the board at this point with the big fish gone and I imagine at least one of them will say yes. Eventually...

I really hope the new coaches can bring in top recruits, but refresh my memory:
Weren't the old coaches responsible for the 4 person 2021 class that almost everyone here is so high on ?
Weren't the old coaches in place when our only 2022 recruit (so far) committed to UT ?
There's still time to add quality players to the 2022 class. Here's hoping our new coaches make it happen.

I can see our top flight assistant coaches getting a bit frustrated. Do all that work to get a visit and the deal not getting closed. Be interesting to see how long one or both assistants stay on board after this year..

Coach K, Coach Sam and Coach Joy have a tremendous task in redirecting the spiral that Holly left this program in and they are more than on their way...Striplin, Wynn, Puckett and Miles come in with accolades, not stars, They are fighters and they have my full support and faith.

If they don't have yours, find a program that you'd like to bandwagon for a while and ...Take your horse to the old town road and ride till you can't no mo...

She was not good. But the problem with that narrative is that in spite of it she could still attract some elite prospects. At a place like this, recruiting should not have to wait on winning with less either.

Kellie has to prove that she can coach, and I mean take the players that she has ( They are not chopped liver by any means ) and get them to the elite 8. If she can do that, then the top 10 will see that, and think that yeah, maybe Tennessee can get to the final four. These High Schoolers want recognition, and getting to the elite 8 is the first building block. There is a huge amount of talent out there just waiting for offers, but a program has to show they are for real, and committing to Tennessee is not a waste of their Gods gift. Kellie is the key to get her players to committ to her system, and also recruit girls that will not make waves in her system. Like I already said, she has to prove to these recruits that she can make them better, individually and as a team.

Traditionally not long, when other teams take notice and offer a bump in pay/title and are landing those kids. Said it before but win the state before you go outside to compete.

Coach i agree with you 95-100 % but on this one i need to push back on one issue Holly. Holly was a bad coach and everyone would agree. But Holly decided to hire Sharrona Reaves as the recruiting coordinator and she worked alone. Reaves job was to bring in the top talent and that`s what she did, But at the end of the day Holly could not coach the talent. Like i said before i think we all need to hold judgement Coach Sam and Coach Joy and give them time. For me the only credit i will give Holly is hiring recruiting coordinator Reaves who was tremendous at her job. She was the one oh went out a found Key she was sitting in the stands Key was never on Holly radar and i know. Reaves knew Key was not on of the elites but knew Key could play with them and one day be one. We can all agree to disagree, Good job Coach Jumper,

Holly, although a fine person, was not a very good basketball coach; did not like offense, especially the 3 point ball.
This 2021 incoming class is full of talent and will play like champions....

agree on Reaves too. And I see this potential in Sam and Joy...Coach K has plenty to work with, marquee players in the vets role (Burrell, Horston, Key), good non-recruit pickups to fill gaps and a much stronger than most realize class for this year (I stand by my prediction that Striplin,Puckett and Wynn will be much more than anticipated, "star-ratings notwithstanding and I saw initial potential in Miles that if coached properly will fill a longstanding need (speed-guard))

Yep, dj,,,it is Kellie time now. SHe has the peices in place and a potential game-changer coming in.
The next step for this administration is to get the top 10 recruits...They are often can't miss players and this IS Tennesee

I agree with a winning program. The elight 8 .,. Final 4….. I don’t see as a Plato that must be reached before we become relevant again !
Top ten recruits….. is this proof of a top program ? Have we forgotten Holly ? How about Hayes , Evian , Green , all were top ten recruits but what a mess ….

2020 class was a reach and grab situation. But Marta , Tess , will prove to be contributors in the near future! The 21/22 recruits have great stories about their basketball skills and programs that they have been a part of ! The stories of family and what efforts have gone into making them the players that they have become ….. I am so excited to see these kids become Lady Vols and cannot wait to see this program grow again ! I remember the top recruiting classes and the Holly ball that was ssssoooooo hard to watch! I love the recruits that Kellie is getting…… I’ll take these kids over any top ten mistakes that I have seen in the past few years ! I say this without even seeing them take their first shot as of yet …..

These kids come from a work ethic to become successful in life ….. I cannot believe they will disappoint us ? Let’s enjoy the ride and let the coaches do their jobs ….. the NAY SAYERS want to pass judgement before the season starts . You can start your negative rants after early signing or maybe you can put lumps of coal in Kellies Christmas stockings !

So everyone thinks that the consensus number 9 class in the country is not a good recruiting year. That means only 8 teams recruited better than we did in 2021. We all would like to be number one, but bringing in top ten recruiting classes is the the most attainable goal. Still have hope that 2022 will be our second top ten recruiting class in a row. Were in on some very good players already have number 16 committed so patience to see what happens long time to November.
