2022 Recruits

Sorry folks but so far this year I have watched on tv most of the teams in the top 10 and we are way way behind when it comes to talent. Yes you take the best you can get but offering kids early that can’t help us get back near the top makes no sense. If you get a reputation of settling as a recruiter then the higher kids will never take you serious.

It what ways? It’s not that simple. A player can have talent but not play as part of a team.

Perfectly said
we have more than enough talent..not the problem

Look at DD when she got to the W
ANd Mercedes improvement once she left CHW's errr,,,,coaching?

This is how recruits decide where to go:
1) Relationships
2) Location
3) Handler Influence (not a majority, but a bigger number than is healthy)
4) Parental Influence
5) Coaching And Development
6) Direction Of The Program
7) Coaching Stability
8) Playing Time/Depth Chart
9) Other Prospects
10) Facilities
11) Current Record
12) Academics
13) Post-Basketball Opportunities
14) Tradition And Prestige
15) Weather/Climate
16) Social Life

8. Should be higher for most kids with the added year.

FYI:

Sara got 3rd foul with 5:30 left in second quarter, score was 15-13 Loretto, with Sara on bench, KW went off and halftime score was 35-14. Sara's team scored 1 point while Sara on bench......Karly actually only had 6 points while Sara guarded her!

In the following game Sara had 24pts, 17rebs, 4 stls, 3 ast and 3 blks, she was 3 for 4 shooting 3’s

You might mention @LorettoVolfan that Lorretto is where Karly plays

I am a fan of both Karly and Sara,
I am also a fan of the whole story
You might mention that Sara got her 3rd foul and crippled her team greatly by overreacting to an obvious traveling call that went against her by yapping at the ref, throwing her hands up and getting T’d up because she was already frustrated at her lack of production. You might mention that Sara scored 90% of her points after Loretto had the game well in hand. You might mention that they’ve played the last 3 years and Sara has done absolutely nothing against a 1A Tennessee team except get run out of the gym and look bad doing it. Sara is by far the biggest, strongest kids on the court and only scored against Loretto most on transition offense shots made on the run from 12 feet and had less than a handful of rebounds.
I know where I’m from but I also know a little about the game and Karly is a much better player. The only edge Sara has is her size. I appreciate your input even when you’re condescending and wrong. Then again, you think you are so much more of an intellectual that you actually had to point out that I’m from Loretto and that’s where Karly plays.

Do you think either one can compete against the SC’s and such?

Loretta is one of the smallest towns in Tennessee. Karly is playing a lot of games with 3 players assigned to guard her. You must physically see her to understand her long reach and jumping ability. Her hands soar above defenses when shooting and the same for rebounds. Any team could use her when it comes times in games when free throws are absolutely needed. Her free throw stats are almost 100 %.

I support Karly 100%
I also support Sara 100%

Watching so many of the top schools and our recruiting just has to get better in order to become relevant again. Right now we are recruiting to finish 4th or lower in the SEC and that’s not going to cut it.

What comes first.....wins or recruiting?

For Tennessee, Holly proved she could pull in top recruits even if the team wasn't very good. The name still carries some weight.

The players Kellie has on the team are more than good enough to not be scraping to get into the NCAAT. Win with those players, and she should be able to reload with no problem.

We have a far better chance of seeing Bob Barker in a Vol uniform than we do with Janiah. Keep dreaming yall.
For the next few years, KJH should focus almost all of her time and energy on recruits ranked in the 30-100 range, the underrated, undervalued 'diamond in the rough' type players and players based locally. How successful she can be implementing this recruiting strategy will determine whether we thrive or we crash and burn in the immediate future. Success would mean wins and the more we win the more she can turn her attention to the top 20ish recruits and start swinging for the bleachers. I'm sure it's an unpopular view but I think it's the better, more reasonable and far more effective strategy in our currrent situation.
hmmmm Janiah Barker doesnt seem like the player to got an already established programmed she is very close with the ole miss HC...and Ole miss is certainly not a program that top recruits look at.

Ole Miss is going to be tough to beat for Janiah Barker. There also seems to be a connection with her and Chelsea Newton from Georgia. At Ole Miss, Chris Ayers used to coach for the AAU program, Essence basketball. He actually coached Rennia Davis, but he joined Coach Yo and her staff a couple of years after Coach Yo came to the SEC. I would give an edge to Ole Miss today, but it is going to be a dog fight for her.
okay now I understand why Barker is very close to Coach Yo

Wholeheartedly subscribe to that last statement. Prove you can win with what you got and the rest takes care of itself.
