2022 U.S. Senate Races

Trump is done in GA. He and his proxies have lost the last two elections. And the more he stupidly attacks Kemp the more votes he loses.

Oh and moderates in other states are watching too and don’t like what they see. How did Trump’s proxies do on election night?
And like other people in here you are completely ignoring the House results.

And how in the world is far left Warnock more moderate than Walker or any Republican?

The GOP underperformed in House elections bigly. And Trump’s chosen won no toss ups or flipped districts. Trump’s chosen got destroyed in the Senate.

And both Warnock and Walker suck. That’s the damn point. The GOP marches out any reasonable candidate and they run Warnock out of town. Instead they march out… Hershel Walker.

People in GA are seriously pissed with both Trump and Senate leadership for an awful job of messaging. Walker’s campaign was basically “Remember me?” followed by “Don’t look over there”.

You almost have to be trying to lose to run statewide in GA in a midterm election as a Republican and still lose in this climate.

Donald Trump is the greatest gift the left has ever received. Left media ratings and attention through the roof. He's led to a lot of terrible opposing candidates for the D's to face. He led the GOP to abandon their (relative) high-road approach (which won them elections, IMO). He's a bogeyman they can always point to, compare themselves against, and deflect to...

Trump beat the worst D candidate ever, and did some cool stuff in that first year or so (Gorsuch, taxes, regulation), but it's been basically nothing but L's ever since. He's a loser.
Don't disagree about a gift, because why would the left media want to cover the economy, supply chain, border, inflation... just focus on Trump.

What exact problem do you have with the issues Walker ran on? Or Trump for that matter? And that's with you putting all personal feelings aside.

Let's also not forget there are constant mainstream media attacks on both Walker and Trump. Which is used in hopes to gain votes on the democrat side.

What the hell issues did Walker run on? Quick without google what were his actual positions other than “I played football for the Dawgs”.

At this point my problem with Trump is he won’t take a hint and go the hell sway. He’s too wrapped up in his own hubris.

And both Walker and Trump opened themselves up to media criticism by running for public office. It’s their choice. Trump could likely do a better job of answering those critics if he’d knock off the useless dog whistles and let 2020 go. It’s over and he cannot get a Mulligan. Walker on the other hand hasn’t shown the mental faculties to mount an effective defense from his critics. But again he put himself in this situation it’s his choice.

Stolen from the 2024 Presidential campaign thread. Perhaps you should take up your indignation with the GA voters that resoundingly threw Trump and his candidates out with the bath water.

You still didn't answer the question. What actual issues that Walker ran on did you see a problem with? Same with Trump. Personal feelings aside.

Actually I did answer the question. And as Ann Coulter said I think as far back as 2019 it’s time for Trumpism without Trump.

What problem do you have with Trump? And don't say his behavior because I see that same behavior displayed on here every day.

And even if Trump disappeared from politics they would ramp up the attacks on someone like Desantis just as bad.

He’s baggage. Plain and simple. He’s the distraction that won’t go away. He is highly polarizing and that polarization continues to be negative. At this point he continues to lose more support than he gains. He is the political equivalent of 3 day old fish. As I said Trumpism without Trump.

That’s the answer. That’s the answer you got before. That’s the answer you’ll get again when you inevitably ask again since that’s your game.

And let them attack DeSantis. They have already started in fact. He expects it. Yet he doesn’t pull the polarizing stupidity and his popularity grows. Why is that huh?

Trump has no political value compass other than what's best for him. He has authoritarian tendencies and regularly threatened suspension of laws that he disfavored or threatened private companies he disagreed with. He spent like a drunken sailor - no fiscal responsibility. The saving grace was he was such an outsider that the machine didn't always follow through on his worst impulses.

Biden is worse since he has these same tendencies and the machine behind him (along with much of the press) but Trump would be worse if he had this power.

Some of his policies were better than D policies so I'll give him that but overall he was a potential tyrant (as is Biden) without the power of the government behind him.

My takeaway tonight is Kemp is very popular here in GA. Most predictions I saw had Warnock winning by around 3 points. Kemp tossed his support hard behind Walker and it made a difference. Not enough to win. But a tangible one. I think he should consider a POTUS run
Kemp/Youngkin in whatever order is probably the Republicans’ best shot at winning among independents and moderates, depending on who the Dems run, of course.

DeSantis may retain enough of the Trump “government is a weapon in the culture war” to win the election, but I’d be pretty surprised if his appeal to the middle isn’t hamstrung by his embrace of that philosophy.

Neither will generate the intense anti- voter turnout that Trump did.

So it is his behavior you don't like right? As I said before the majority of people that don't like his behavior display the same behavior themselves on a regular basis.

And I will agree Desantis does handle the attacks better. I think he just outright ignores most of them.

But the thing with Trump is that he was kicked off social media platforms. He creates his own and people still follow him. And not just Republicans but democrats as well. People can't get enough of him. I wouldn't underestimate his popularity.

No it’s his ego and self before everything else. His behavior is just a manifestation of those qualities. That was put on clear display starting on Nov 2020. I voted for Trump in 2020. I’d be really hard pressed to do it again. He’s just as authoritarian as the “other side” he rails against when he needs to be. He has more business acumen than anybody across the aisle except for Bloomberg and no way he’ll venture into this again

Hey look I’m glad you’re happy with your cult of personality tight group. But sadly for your group an overwhelming number of the rest of us are moving on.

And if Trump could have ever learned to shut his pie hole and not take the bait on social media he might still be president.

He's nowhere near as authoritarian as the other side. Not even close. I'm sure every former president has been accused of being authoritarian. Honestly I'm more concerned about Biden's ego and what comes out of his mouth than anything Trump says. Or most democrats for that matter. Any conservative should be as well.

That really isn’t a stellar endorsement. LMAO.

“Our dog 💩 stinks less than the other guy’s so vote for us!”

I think DeSantis is a Florida thing. I don't think he plays well nationally. Rumors of some skeletons in the old closet as well.

Bill Haggerty explains what the democrats have been doing since 2020 to win elections.

Leading up to the midterms in 2022 Haggerty campaigned in 7 states over 10 days. "I was in Nevada campaigning with Adam Laxalt and he was up by four points," Haggerty said on Nashville radio WTN 99.7. "Democrats learned in 2020 that could get a bunch of rule changes through. In Nevada they were able to mail out ballots to all the voters. Some reported they got 4 and 5 ballots sent to them. You were able to submit these mail out ballots up through Saturday after the election. It's not illegal because they are taking advantage of these changes to the laws they got through. All around Las Vegas they worked with their unions to get these ballots collected. They are ballot harvesting. We need to deal with that reality and change our approach."

He seems to have all the charisma of Al Gore, but I think he’s popular nationally with the same people who nominated Trump. Hell, with both of them running, maybe they split the vote and if there’s only one of Kemp and Youngkin maybe they can win a plurality and we actually get a decent candidate this cycle.

I continue to believe Nikki Haley has the most national appeal for the GOP. She's not a loon, she presents well, and has a solid resume. Boring things that actually play well with centrist independents. I think she would also help with the suburban college educated female vote, which has fled the GOP as if it had herpes.
