2023 Transfer Portal - General NCAA Thread

Armstrong is an interesting player—6’6” point guard from the NBA Global Academy like Vescovi. He should have two years of eligibility remaining.

Interesting case in that he has great size and scores in the 2-pt range, but he's pretty bad from outside and is not a very good FT shooter. Turns the ball over a little more than I'd like, too, but averages a good number on assists. Step up from Cali Baptist to Tennessee is monumental, though.

Jordan Minor from Merrimack entered portal. 6’8 / 240. Have no idea if we would be interested and typically don’t comment on unknowns but he looks the part on clips. Very athletic big body who is both reigning NEC Co-Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. He isn’t a perimeter shooter and not a good FT shooter. Dunks everything and very good rebounder and shot blocker. Doesn’t look like a mid major athlete at all.

Me either. Not this dude. If we are looking at BJ Mack, this guy looks to be far more athletic, but not as polished based on small sample on clips.

Yep, love Awaka but we need another big in the portal from somewhere. Otherwise we only have 4 frontcourt players and 2 would be freshman. Phillips can rotate at 4 some but he is more of a 3 and needs a lot more strength. His gets bumped slightly and falls down. Also need a PG in portal.

Wish we could get Sharp. He only shot 53 3’s but he made over 50% of them!! He also averaged 5 assists a game to go along with 20ppg and 5rpg. Dunn would probably be a decent pickup as a wing, but not as a PG. He averaged 3 assists per game but 3.1 turnovers per game, so I’d say he would be better suited to play as a wing or combo guard.

He's got that little step back jumper down for sure. Got him some quicks, too. There's a need, PT and a big stage for him. Question is how does he view our roster next year given our losses?

Sharp would be an incredible pickup. Having that guy as a PG with ZZ would give us options we haven’t had this year, or any year other than last with Chandler/ZZ. And last year’s team didn’t have the frontcourt presence than next year’s should.

Give me Sharp and a big who can score/rebound and I’m thrilled.
