Tennessee would be a better fit unless he wants to not play defense and finish middle of the PAC crap league and go to the NIT.

No kidding. Literally 3 weeks ago Oregon’s head coach, Dana Altman was ragging on lack of fan support, questioning the support from administration, and evenly openly said “to replace him” if he wasn’t the right coach for the job. Why walk into that mess, unless Nike is flexing their muscle? Altman had a great run in 2017, no doubt about it but two back to back mediocre years lately with NIT appearances. SEC would give Knecht more exposure and Barnes would help his game.

Knecht is a North West kid from what I heard. I think he would definitely be a better fit at Tennessee as well.

Much like with Perry or the other handful of names you’ve thrown out there, you can’t just look at a name and say go get so and so…half of these kids know where they’re going before entering the portal, a large % of the remaining won’t fit our culture this staff requires, a large % just want biggest NIL amount which we aren’t playing that game.

If I’m coach CRB, If Knecht seems likely I tell JJJ that if he wants to rehab this off season and give it one more run then he’s got a spot but I have to have an answer otherwise there won’t be a scholarship available if Knecht jumps on board. Pushing existing players out in order to sign portal guys just doesn’t seem like a solid way to run a program. JMO

I would normally agree that pushing out contributors to make room for players from the portal can look bad, but I think it’s different in cases involving covid years (with scholarship limits), players who have already gone through senior days, and have tested the NBA waters two years in a row.
