2024 Official Seed List Watch Party Thread

Oh great, a new narrative being unleashed by a UNC reporter for SI.

Okay, I'm confused. I didn't think they'd put UNC out west as a 1 seed? Regardless, Arizona is locked in out west? I know regional interest makes them a likely choice, but there's no scenario that some of the other 1 seeds get shuffled if UNC gets the nod as the final 1 seed?

Why didn’t you think they’d put UNC out West? And no, they wouldn’t “punish” other teams who are more deserving by moving them further away to “reward” UNC and put them closer to home.

How likely is it for us to be in Charlotte in session 1 for our first game? Looking at buying tickets before teams are announced and prices go up
I think very likely. We will almost 100% be in Charlotte, and I suspect UNC (who will also be in Charlotte) will get the session 2 nod. That's not as sure as the location itself, but it's the one I'd bet on.

Fwiw with Clemson getting waxed by BC last night UNC gained another Q2 loss on their resume.

Also, bracketmatrix has continued updating, and what had closed to a 1.55 (UNC) to 1.45 (UT) gap it has now shifted back towards Tennessee, 1.61 to 1.39.
UT 1.42
UNC 1.58
…this morning.

Lunardi's "hopscotch" comment is so dumb. No one is leaping over anyone at this point because of a win over Florida State. The committee chair pretty much flat out said as much in that interview with Andy Katz.

If Tennessee and UNC win today, nothing will change. Lundardi would probably say we jumped back in front, when, in reality, the committee would have never moved us (whether they have us as a 1 or a 2)

Well the updated bracket at 1:30 a.m. had UNC as #1 in the West

Vols #2 in South starting out in Charlotte vs Colgate.

Lunardi has us in the East now with UConn, which is different than what he had yesterday after our loss. Which begs the question, would we rather face a physical lock down defense like Houston and hope our defense can match them in a slugfest? Or the defending national champs who have an incredibly balanced scoring team with way more options to put the ball in the hoop than Houston?

The Huskies have a lottery pick and a 6'11" center who probably goes in top 20 of draft. Rather take my chances in a rock fight with Houston.

Whose main scorers are L.J. Cryer and Shead the PG.

My biggest concern right now is the 7-10 matchup. Multiple brackets have second game being Gonzaga against Michigan state which be an absolute nightmare.

When's the last time we slugged someone? I just don't see us as being all that physical. Maybe against really soft, finesse teams we can play a form of bully ball, but on the whole I don't think we have a lot of physicality. At the same time, I don't see us having enough options on offense to stay on the floor with UConn. Either way I think we get pummeled.

Y’all are worried about who we would play in the Elite 8. Take a step back and process that for a second.

No shame in losing to either of those storied programs. It's the loss to a no name or cinderella that I'd like to avoid.

This doesn't seem possible. Wild statistic. Sorry for double post, just saw posted somewhere else.

Would you rather we sit around for the next 7 days and complain about how much we suck and have no chance to beat a 15 seed? Projecting how we match up in the 2nd weekend feels a lot more fun with how little time we may have left.

Something has been trickling out to Katz/Lunardi. I mentioned this earlier in the week, but a few of the TV bracketheads have been showing us in the East. As BTO observed that doesn’t match the curve. It might have to do with organizing the brackets to avoid rematch rules. As more SEC teams qualify, it’s harder to avoid the rematch funnel.
