If you could guarantee Tennessee made the National Championship game for the first time in program history, but they would lose to Kentucky, would you take it?
Honestly, I think I would as much as it pains me to say it.

They would be the 2 seed in the east and we would be the 2 seed most anywhere but West - most likely south or Midwest, from my understanding.I have some questions. Please bear with me.
If we hold on to the 1 seed, where is UNC expected to go as the top 2 seed? In a non gerrymandered system, shouldn't that be our bracket, the West (as the highest 2 against the lowest 1)? But of course everyone expects Arizona to be allowed to play in the west. So where would that put UNC? Would they likely go to the East? That is, be demoted (as it were) to playing the second-lowest 1 seed. Or would it be random?
And if UNC gets the 1 seed, shouldn't we get the West as a number 2 on the merits? But Arizona will stay put and we would likely go where? To the East, being demoted one place in our pairing to accommodate Arizona?
Finally, if the committee is delaying its decision, would it most likely arrange things such that we and UNC simply swap places depending on who is granted the 1 seed? Thanks.
Oh great, a new narrative being unleashed by a UNC reporter for SI.

They’re acting like Arizona is gonna make the elite 8, that won’t happenOh great, a new narrative being unleashed by a UNC reporter for SI.

In effective terms, wouldn't that amount to us being demoted in the "true seed" from 4th to 7th or 8th, based the "true seeds" of the team we would be paired against?[Arizona] would be the 2 seed in the east and we would be the 2 seed most anywhere but West - most likely south or Midwest, from my understanding.
I agree with everything you said. I’m not sure if schools are consulted or if you’re matched with your truest, geographic region - if our we had a preference, you’d think west is the easy choice, but I’d think geography is the main factor here.In effective terms, wouldn't that amount to us being demoted in the "true seed" from 4th to 7th or 8th, based the "true seeds" of the team we would be paired against?
I wouldn't be surprised if Bama contrived to be sent to the West as a result, considering that to be the most advantageous bracket. It looks like UNC and not unlikely Bama would be the big winners if the committee "massaged" the brackets that way. Am I missing something?
I see what you're saying, but Tennessee's first ever 1 seed and DK could just as easily be turned into a made for TV event. I don't think the TV numbers would be one iota better either way. And remember that massaging the true seeds like that you lose UNC against Connecticut which would be fantastic TV. But they're not talking about that.I mentioned this last week. It’s a made for TV event. I’m not guaranteeing it to happen, but with how close the decision is it just wouldn’t surprise me if a UNC/Caleb Love matchup is just another enticing thing for the Committee to factor in.
There are bracketing principles the committee must adhere to. After the 1-seeds are placed, geography is the primary tool from that point forward, and the first four teams from the same conference have to be placed in four different regions. You’re rarely ever going to have a true S-curve.In effective terms, wouldn't that amount to us being demoted in the "true seed" from 4th to 7th or 8th, based the "true seeds" of the team we would be paired against?
