That the Democrats are showing a lack of respect for the democratic system of elections in the United States is one of the arguments that's being made here .... and Trump's antics from 2020 are highly relevant to such an argument.

You are responding to the Will of the people that responded to polls. The Will of the party leaders and the Will of the major donors.

The voters already voted. They voted for Biden.

And there was LBJ, who was initially going to run for re-election in 1968, but then changed his mind due to a massive decline in his popularity due to public favor overwhelmingly turning against continued involvement in the Vietnam War. He decided not to run because he realized that he couldn't win.

He’s replaced on the ballot for the general election, citing polling data. He doesn’t step down, rather he’s just replaced by the party leaders.

And the will of the voters that overwhelmingly voted for Biden in the primary is in no way compromised because Obama, the polls, the party leaders, and donors all agree.
