2024 Presidential Race

Probably a 9mm. Don't speak of things you have no clue. No need to defend him if he had 24 years in service he was probably told to move on by higher ups. A good retirement for him and his record will speak for itself. May not be the right choice but for the Dems but they are stuck with him, regardless.
There are several posts in this forum that are so ill informed with assumptions and innuendos that makes just a place to go for entertainment purposes.
Field Artillery Branch of service is a tough place to serve but it is not called the "King of Battle" because it is easy. Being a citizen soldier is a whole new ball game in itself. Unless you have been there and done that you should be careful how you frame a person's career or choices when it comes to there service record.
Instead, several just spout off there opinion without knowing the facts. Fodder and politics.
The point was that the AR15 is not a weapon of war. He's either ignorant or a liar. I'll let you decide.

If he was carrying a “weapon of war”… “into war”….

Then he was not carrying an AR-15.

How is he wrong there?

Oh boy. (someone might want to give the Hillabeast a call)

Moot point, a 9mm and M16s are weapons of war they are issued to soldiers. The Battalion of Howitzers he served in as a soldier are weapons of war.
NG Deployments are not rare, some are sent packing to the Battlefield and some are sent back to home on a discharge for medical or health or civilian job reasons or ability. I don't care to dwell into Waltz's case because it does not speak to his ability.
Some of you have not knowledge of the NG and that is ok. I evaluated unit readiness, trained and advised NG units, I found some more than capable of fighting on a modern day battlefield and capable of completing their mission assignments.

Not to correct you but I guess you have seen the MTOEs and know that AR15s are not in the Inventory. The M16 has been the Weapon of choice and the military adapted the M16 to function better than AR15.

Well the big difference is the AR15 is NOT a fully auto weapon. The M16 was select fire and I don't think is used any longer as it was replaced with a very similar but modern version referred to as the M4.

He’s not talking about 9mm or M16. He’s talking about AR15.

You keep attempting, poorly, to segue this into being a critique of his Guard service - It’s not.

This is about him saying he carried “weapons of war” (AR15)… “into war”.

The modified M16 is still used depending on the type unit. M4 replaced the M16 in some units but not all phased out program and the XM7 will soon replace the M4.
I guess the debate is whether or not the AR15 is a Weapon of War? No, but in layman terms it can be used in terms for the common brain but failed battlefield testing and the M4 and M16 are better choices. I think this is really a moot conversation because it really doesn't matter.
If Waltz served for 24 years, no need to discredit his service by calling him deserter or being a traitor without the facts as to what decisions were made by him or his superiors regarding his retirement. He may have been told to retire. Who really knows?

Where did I discredit his service? Although it does appear the kitchen got hot so he got out, no? My point is, that the AR15 has never been or will never be a weapon of war. For him to claim that it is shows he is a complete moron when it comes to firearms used in war or he's a liar.

And you are making a point about a weapon that never existed US arsenal which is a dumb argument when there are more important issues to discuss. Discredit him all you want but look at the comments calling him a deserter and traitor which are totally out of bounds without knowing the circumstances. The AR15 comments are just a sidebar to the him and have no value.

I guess he fits in the Trump category for lies being told. Start running a tally because you are going to need one for all four candidates.

Not your comments but several have discredited his service. So be it. Again, the AR15 issue is not really anything to worry yourself over because there are bigger eggs to fry. It's not like any of these candidates have misspoke they are all telling the truth.

It is an absolute fact that he never served in a combat zone and it is an absolute fact that if he did he would not have carried an AR-15. His service does not insulate him from his lies about it.

Did not say that he is insulated, but the comments or characterization about him as a deserter or traitor steps over the line.

He wasn't told to retire, he accepted an appointment to the SGT Major Academy and was frocked to E-9 shortly before he decided to retire instead of deploying with his unit. They don't do that then say "hey man you gotta go" unless there was a major screwup on his part.

I don't think it is stupidity but immorality that runs them. If you really sit and talk to a lot of them, I think they want to tear our country and its people down and it is typically related to a personal, selfish reason. To be fair, some of these people are left behind in our society and we could do more to help but ultimately, a lot of them fail to help themselves.

We live in an age when no one will compromise their personal values for the greater good of society.
On your last sentence, I’d say it more like this…people won’t inconvenience themselves to help another. We shouldn’t compromise values but there is little empathy or even common courtesy for others. What I don’t know is if it’s actually changing or if I’m just more aware of it and less patient. My gut tells me both. I do believe it’s changing as social media has fanned the flames of selfishness and I’m certainly more aware and less patient.
