I personally think that Trump or the Republicans don't have some special policy or program that helps the economy, I think it is the absence of the Democrats and their programs that helps our economy when Republicans are in office.

The main issue I have is police ordering people where to go when on their own property. The fact the state thinks they have that power is disgusting. The fact the governor thinks he has that power is gross. The fact people would knowingly elect someone who thinks they have that power is scary as hell.

It might be. It’s my gut instinct as well. But I think it’s more complicated than we realize.

Have there been big changes to the composition of the GOP as an organization in the past 10 years? I mean they have run people like Will Hurd, Ben Sasse, Jeff Flake, Paul Ryan, etc. out of politics. Those guys are essentially just actors, not that important, they can be recast. I’m curious whether composition of state and local offices have reflected those changes and how much of a ground game the GOP could muster right now for somebody like Mitt Romney or even Nikki Haley. I’m curious how big and how much of the “Only Trump” group would stick around without him.

That same question applies to the electorate, but I think there is less staying power for those changes, in a vacuum. I do think the GOP primary field is saturated with the kinds of people who are drawn to the personal attacks against Tim Walz (for example), which is going to make it hard to reverse those changes to get back significant groups like Never Trump conservatives and suburban women.

me personally, no, I try to be hard to offend. plenty of people in our society, 100%.
