Without question, you can (and will) call it what you want. You certainly don't need permission or agreement with me to use the words you choose. You have been a fairly consistent poster when it comes to words mean things. In that understanding of who you are, I offered a perspective on the term, "loophole".

I have no idea how tax code gets written. But, like you, I suspect it is as much a political process as it is a revenue process. But if those "proxy gift codes" are codes you have used, then you have to take a good hard look in the mirror and come to terms with you benefiting from something 'legal but shouldn't be available to you'.

As an example, if you have used section 179 tax incentives on a vehicles weighing more than 6,000 pounds. I am unable to use that because my vehicle doesn't qualify even though it is as important to my business as yours is to yours. Does that mean you received a proxy gift? I don't think so. I think the code is too narrowly defined and that should be available to all of us regardless of vehicle weight. I have used a loss carry forward to lessen my tax burden. And that may not be a viable option for you. So it cuts both ways in the end.

I don't know why we need to call it something special or inflammatory. I don't think we need to call it loophole, or proxy gifts, or illegal. Just call it what it is, the tax code...even with all its faults, unfairness, and complexity.

I really don’t see the need to bring politicians children that aren’t full grown adults with their own achievements or lack thereof into the limelight to begin with. Politics and political media is without question the lowdown sleaziest bunch of garbage out there. I don’t care which party it is, jockeying for position with kids is a lowdown lousy move to make.

Trump gains a bit from RFK dropping out, but it's not going to be some kind of seismic shift. He's polling at roughly 4% (that number is sure to drop by election day anyway) and, while I don't think that people supporting RFK are true third-party voters (i.e. they're not going to jump to Stein or West in large numbers), the number of RFK supporters who would go for Kamala (bad for Trump) or just sit out the election entirely (neutral/good-ish for Trump) isn't that much smaller than the population that will heed RFK's endorsement and vote Trump.

It wasn't that long ago when conservatives were labelled "bitter clingers" who held tightly to their guns and bibles. Also, R politicians who weren't on board with hope and change were advised to move to the back of the bus.

If we are going policy-by-policy then there are plenty of them pointing in the opposite direction, starting with "the border" and the "emasculation of men" garbage and tying everything to Satan or the anti-Christ. I'm talking about the high-level "conservatism/liberals are destroying this country" rants which are typically made far more often and more angrily from the right

With reaches like these, maybe the preferential bias is your own. I am not saying conservative policies don't get flack sometimes, but the things you're describing have nothing to do with this conversation about the rhetoric where the left is destroying the country/making us Communist/destroying the nuclear family/destroying what it means to be a man/going after your children/supporting pedophilia/etc. LibsOfTikTok, End Wokeness, Clay Travis, Riley Gaines, and countless others are raking in profits almost exclusively based on that outrage.

It's funny to have a forum where people are constantly saying all that, and calling everyone a pedo, and then go "it is conservatives who are being unfairly vilified"
