Fact Check: Harris Claims Trump 'Did Nothing to Fix' Immigration System

Vice President Kamala Harris falsely claimed former President Donald Trump "did nothing to fix" the broken immigration system in the U.S.

"While serving as president, the Trump administration cut off foreign aid to Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala over a failure to stop migrant caravans from making their way to the U.S.

As Breitbart News previously reported, the Trump administration also ended the temporary protected status for roughly 200,000 El Salvadoran migrants.
The Trump administration also constructed more than 400 miles of a border wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

In September 2019, the Trump administration also announced that they would be ending catch-and-release for migrant families.

As Breitbart News previously reported, the ending of catch-and-release was a “huge win for Americans” because it meant border patrol agents were given a “legal alternative to the catch-and-release rules which allow migrants to legally enter” the country with their children, and by claiming asylum, be released into the country.

Trump also previously vowed “to hire 15,000 new border agents and immigration officers.” However, the Trump administration still ended up with thousands of vacancies, according to the Los Angeles Times.

In a sign of the difficulties, Customs and Border Protection allocated $60.7 million to Accenture Federal Services, a management consulting firm, as part of a $297-million contract to recruit, vet and hire 7,500 border officers over fire years, but the company has produced only 33 new hires so far.

The issue of a lack of border patrol agents being hired is described as being an issue that “predates the Trump administration,” with there being a reported 21,444 border patrol agents hired in 2011. However, since then, this number has decreased, according to Politico.

In a 2023 list of the best places to work in the U.S. federal government, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency ranked among the bottom agencies."

74M voted for a sitting President, says a lot about the vote. The fact that a sitting President lost to a man with a basement Campaign and Drive In rallies says a lot. Think about what you are saying.

Result: Now we have two unqualified candidates running for office, one that constantly lies and one that does not know which lies to tell.

It says 81M got played by a “manufactured virus”. Vote seemed like a good idea at the time, now Trump instead of being gone is back and the layers of protection are gone for the left.

Defending basement Joe is a hell of a way saying you screwed up.

yea, whatever. Go back to your dream world of stirring BS. Deal with the reality. Manufactured virus is an excuse for the loss and a crutch for Trump's defeat. Makes no difference if it was or not.

Says a lot. God knows what have we done to ourselves with these two candidates, that really can't fix crap.
Add to it a worthless Congress because of leadership in both parties that Representatives are paid $177,000 for 165 days a year of work that accomplish nothing.
Both candidates appeal to voters for different reasons, both candidates will not be able to accomplish crap.
We are in a political storm of throwing crap against the wall and see what sticks. Promises being offered by both of these candidates are laughable and maybe 5% will get implemented.

+7M votes to see the party push him out. Like I said, it seemed like a good idea at the time. I hope for those 81M who got played, it was worth it. Losing a loved one, loss of job(s) and higher COL to protect Joe. Trump still isn’t in jail line the left promised.

It didn't backfire, probably accomplished what it was intended to do. Supposed truth coming out months afterwards and most have moved on to other things.
It Planted seeds, that is all you need to do these days in politics regardless of the truth.

Who got played? tell yourself that if it helps you cope. Seriously, you think that Trump not being in Jail is a plus. It is good lawyering, an election year, some of your Dem friends may have promised jail time, but if Trump doesn't elected he will go to jail and will be pursued by the Dem until he does, doesn't make it right but they will do it.
Covid does not discriminate between Dems and Reps so it is a wash.

Who got played? 81M…pretty simple. No need to mention the 14M who voted for this last go around. You’re correct, Covid didn’t discriminate and that’s the frustrating part for conservatives not having loved ones around in the name of protecting Joe.

It backfired to the extent that the Harris campaign found themselves basically calling Gold Star families liars. Notice how quickly they dropped the story one dimocrats started saying things like “even Gold Star families don’t have the right to break regulations”. Then it went overnight to silence. That tells you that they knew they had stepped in it

I think you may have it on something. At a time several states are going through a disaster, the Biden - Harris Administration wants to authorize $8B to Ukraine. Will there be a clear discrepancy in support that rub people the wrong way?

That's the way you look at it. Some Gold Star families didn't like the fact that Trump was there at all. Haven't read the article but some will get a rise from it, some will not. 50/50 split.

The fact you use it still means it is still floating and flowing in your head. Trump has moved on, he got the Sound Bites from it and so did the Democrats. So really what is your point looking backwards to make a point. It is all history now.
Neither Candidates are discussing it at the moment and really the press is not breaking with it on the news. I guess you would want it to be a debate topic? An answer by any candidate will be unrelated to this question. Again, politics are about sound bites.

The poster has a horrible case of TDS. It is hilarious to go back and read his/her posts in the Trump indictment thread. He/she seemed to cheering for convictions by a corrupt DOJ and state prosecutors. In posts you'll find bogus claims of a 50/50 split in the Republican base. It sounds like something clowns like Anna Navarro, Joe Scarborough, Michael Steele, Liz Cheney, and the ilk no one cares about would say. The bottom line is you're never going to get 100% of any group to support you and the bozos wishing for old guard losing Republican messages are mostly neocons and low key democrats in disguise.
