Should be a hoot paying $$ thousands just to attend. Poor people want be there. Joe needs all the help this old man can get these days bc nobody's voting for him this next time around.

He believes it was a just war? My FIL served in the marines in Vietnam and doesn't think it was. He also has some not so nice things to say about the chemicals dumped on him by the us govt and the health problems that affect generations past him

He did not. Also suffered from the effects of agent orange. Biden and Trump got out of it with bullsh!t reasons. My father had two kids and was still drafted. My wife's uncle was schizophrenic and still got drafted.

They don't get a pass because they were rich or in college.

Maybe that just shows how important it is to end all these useless wars. Those choosing to fight them aren't serving either.

At what point do you feel outraged that your family members had to fight a meaningless, non-existential war halfway around the world and we are still repeating those mistakes today? In my mind, people like you should be the MOST against these foreign expeditionary conflicts.

Be that as it may, you don't get to pick and choose whether or not you participate... well you didn't at that time. There are rules. That being said, I firmly believe we need to require 2 years of mandatory service. No deferments, because even a wheelchair bound person can answer a phone and do clerical work. There is too much entitlement in this country. Join the military, Peace Corps or pick up trash on the side of the road. But something. Bills are coming due and need to be paid. The interest is getting nothing but larger by the day. (And that is a metaphor, not a comment on the national debt)

So you don't believe in a free country? Not shocked but always interesting to see it posted.

Being able to pick and choose is fundamental to this country's stated beliefs. Forcing men to go fight and die for an absolute lie should never be approved.

Well if you want to be pie in the sky about this, what we REALLY need are term limits imposed on ALL politicians at the federal level. Judges, congressmen... ALL of them. Maybe we wouldn't find ourselves in useless wars due to politicians that support the interests of big pharma and the military industrial complex, but rather ones that support the American people. But that ain't gonna happen either, and that same American public is too ****ing stupid to throw them out at the ballot box. To wit: 50+ years of Puddinhead brought to you by the idiots from Delaware.

And I wasn't talking about being forced into the military. ANY kind of national service would do. I'd even let the mormons count their 2 year missions. Maybe the youth of today won't look like they fell face first into my brother in law's tackle box and might have a little respect for themselves. Maybe they will understand the privilege they have to be born into the greatest country on the planet instead of trying to turn it into the next Venezuela..

Freedom isn't free. Think about that today at least.

Term limits is again limiting freedom. I don't need you to tell me who I'm allowed to vote for.

We have programs that reward public service with loan forgiveness after a decade of service and payments but you howled. Why so inconsistent?
