2024 Recruiting Thread

De Silva ….. ? Can you give description and more information on this player? Not in any High School list that I have ? 🤷‍♂️

6'6" player from Portugal. Has played on a couple of their junior national teams. she would need to add some muscle but super long and disruptive it appears.

Her full name is Clara De Silva for those who want to do some research.

Uconn was interested don't know if they are still in contact.

They have nothing to do with each other, Lsu brings in top transfers and still have the number one recruiting class. If players want to come they will come and that’s it.

Maybe you should ask Velez how she feels about high school recruiting verses portal recruiting? Just Saying!

Yes coach Sam flew to see her. check my post again i added more and will continue to add more

Her full name is A LOT longer than what i posted when i looked at the FIBA link i found but if you type that it'll pull her up 🤣🤣🤣

What year would she be coming in ?

Portal vs HS recruiting probably isn't an issue w a few super elite like LSU (right now) SCjr, UConn. But may be for some of the rest of us. Just a question.
And Cora has been here less than two years and has that figured out. Year 5 of Tennessee recruiting as the HC.
Figuring out that a problem exists and being able to solve it are two different things. I don't think our staff is unaware that repeated failure to close out on top recruits is a problem.

It seems like we have had a handful in the last 3 years that visited multiple times and/or we got the final visit. Then crickets. It makes me think that something in the pitch is not sealing the deal with HS recruits. My guess is that it's NIL.

Maybe we don't want to commit a big NIL chunk to a HS'er when they have an easy, pain-free ability to transfer. On the other hand, you sink the NIL into portal players with multiple years left; you have a better idea of who they are and they are less likely to leave if they have to sit out a year. Maybe we have done the calculus.

any money you give a freshmen recuit. pay in four = amounts . that way if theyyskip ship in a year they only have 1/4 what they where offer. stay two years get 1/2, stay three get 3/4,, go wnba or transfer portal in year four recuit never gets the last 1/4 of nil deal they agree on with the school they commited. do not front load contrack will sign bonus

NiL comes from companies, the companies can sign any player they want to represent them.

You are entitled to your own version of ish. But for me, 29th is 30ish.

The Hoopgurlz top 100 players for 2024 have not posted yet ! Only the top 60…. Remember Pissott committed and was ranked 35 at the time but ended up at #11 overall! And the Harper haters were blasting Kelly for taking such a lowly ranked recruit….. Then the crow eating began with new rankings. But they got the last laugh as she transferred anyway ? This recruit could move up or down ? But to be ranked 30 ish , is not a bad thing! Just my opinion

The problem existed before NIL was a thing.

We may need to open the checkbook and get Law back here...or someone similar...This is a gut punch to Kellie....Time and money spent wining and dining her and her family..it's almost thievery...I think she knew where she was going all along.

Everyone knows Tennessee is a good program to visit, and lots of kids visit just to say they did. It is what it is.

Depends on the deal and how the contract is written. The more you front load it the more likely they are to sign but the more like you are to get burnt.
