For most schools nowadays, to land a top 100 recruit is hitting the jackpot. To get top 30 players the separation is very low between them and the top 5. Lets remember where Rhyne Howard was ranked or Rae Burrell or I can name 15-20 others that are thriving right now in the WNBA. The number does not mean as much today as it used to 20 years ago when great players were few and far between. The Hoopgurlz top 100 players for 2024 have not posted yet ! Only the top 60…. Remember Pissott committed and was ranked 35 at the time but ended up at #11 overall! And the Harper haters were blasting Kelly for taking such a lowly ranked recruit….. Then the crow eating began with new rankings. But they got the last laugh as she transferred anyway ? This recruit could move up or down ? But to be ranked 30 ish , is not a bad thing! Just my opinion
We may need to open the checkbook and get Law back here...or someone similar...This is a gut punch to Kellie....Time and money spent wining and dining her and her family..it's almost thievery...I think she knew where she was going all along.
That needs to stop Recruiting coaches need to weed out the players who have 0 interest in actually attending The University of Tennessee...
I think law left because of her mom I think she’ll only leave if it’s a head coaching job..but with this new visiting campus rules be expecting it she was probably on the fence between us and them and they probably offered more and she could stay closer to homeWe may need to open the checkbook and get Law back here...or someone similar...This is a gut punch to Kellie....Time and money spent wining and dining her and her family..it's almost thievery...I think she knew where she was going all along.
Well, I'm at a lose.Kellie is an energetic young coach. Proven winner, players absolutely love her.The campus, surroundings, history of the storied program. There is something wrong somewhere,to strike out on so many talented young ladies. It is what it always has been....Kids pick coaches, not universities.
If it were the universities that drew the talent,,,, UCON, LSU, Baylor, South Carolina and Tennessee would have never reached the plateau they did/have...Those kids went there to be coached by Geno, Kim, Dawn, Pat, etc.
Its that way in the HS's
Its that way in the AAU/exposure circuit
Its that way in college
The only anomaly is the Pros....Players play where they are drafted, not the location or coach.

Believe it starts with the fans perception of Kellie. She’s mid-40’s and hasn’t won championships at the Power 5 level. You’re only as good as the people you surround yourself with and to date that should be telling considering her staff not being able to secure kids. Todays kids need new traditions not reruns of Pat and the championship years.Well, I'm at a lose.Kellie is an energetic young coach. Well, Kellie is the "deal closer" but your right.Maybe time for an assistant coach redo. Really like both assistants (John adds nothing) but the proof is in the pudding. Kellie needs her a Mickie DeMoss like Pat had,DeMoss laid the foundation and Pat closed, I see no top recruiter like she was for Pat on Kellie's staff jmoWell, Kellie is the "deal closer" but your right.Maybe time for an assistant coach redo. Her home state, plus sizeable pay increase from 160K (Tennessee) to 246K…she is now under 300K. She’s not the highest paid assistant if that tells you the investments between the two programs.I think law left because of her mom I think she’ll only leave if it’s a head coaching job..but with this new visiting campus rules be expecting it she was probably on the fence between us and them and they probably offered more and she could stay closer to home
Stated here for a few years Jon brings nothing to the staff (not a popular opinion). He’s not known for recruiting, he’s not known for development and has been by her side since day 1 on the bench with the same results.Well, Kellie is the "deal closer" but your right.Maybe time for an assistant coach redo. Yes, could be a sticking point with Kellie. Either he stays or they are both gone. Might be what happened at N.C.State....Stated here for a few years Jon brings nothing to the staff (not a popular opinion). At least it wasn't "loose". Hate that! You mean you're at a "loss." Yes, a tough prospect to...lose.
IMO that's it in a nutshell. Less than nothing to do with assistants. That's shuffling deck chairs. Lots to love here, but bottom line, you've got to be a proven winner to get elites. We've had too many spankings on national tv. We're about 3 or 4 big wins away. Hopefully those will happen in the upcoming season.hasn’t won championships at the Power 5 level.
It's called NIL. With Thomas, by staying in NC, she can earn NIL money as a high schooler. That's a huge advantage for her. We have similar legislation too but that doesn't help on an NC kid.Well, I'm at a lose.Kellie is an energetic young coach.
