The lottery pays for some tuition not all. With her being a Tennessee girl wouldn't she be eligible for Tennessee lottery money for school? thats what im thinking. But anytime tenn not max out 15 plus Edia she should get full ride. lottery pays for classes. place to stay is up to the students right? @Volfan2012
I figure she and Tess are fine financially for school. Tess has a lot of NIL deals and I am sure Edie has made some money herself. I think you always love to have a scholarship as well but I am sure Edie is doing well without one. I think she gets one for this coming season I just can't see it not happening. With her being a Tennessee girl wouldn't she be eligible for Tennessee lottery money for school? thats what im thinking. Interesting question. How about kinda sorta but not completely in the top 20 pool. I get that Cooper's experience is that of a freshman, but still she's a portal recruit. And Kellie and Sam continue to own that recruiting niche.Since Cooper can't play til 24... Does this count towards Kellie landing a recruit who had been in the TOP 20!?!? With limited experience i would say it's like landing a freshman recruit.
The saying was Kellie was having a hard time breaking that top 20 ceiling... Does this commitment count as chipping away at that ?
Since we have the portal really not interested as to where the players come from. That being said we have landed Rickea Jackson two years. Destinee Wells two years, Jewell Sears two years, Jill Hollingshead 3 years and Talaysia Cooper three years. One was top 20 and one other was top five. The others are legitimate five star talent and four of the five are on the team this season. I personally think this is the best Tennessee team in over a decade. I could get proven wrong, but I have never been this excited about a team of Lady Vols in a long time. This team looks to be a scoring machine. If they can defend at all were winning big next season.Since Cooper can't play til 24... Does this count towards Kellie landing a recruit who had been in the TOP 20!?!? Can't disagree with you. I think the difference between a great season and a good season will be Key. If she can play an effective 25 minutes per game, they will tough to beat.Since we have the portal really not interested as to where the players come from. Still trying to break the pond ice on a top 20 directly fm high school. Maybe da Silva is that breakthru? Is she considered top 20? Even if we get her its STILL not exactly getting an elite, legit top 20 straight out of American high school. I swear I think we're just a couple of big wins and an E8 run away from getting one of those.
Interesting to me is the portal recruiting success w those who almost chose the LVs the first time around. Being the bridesmaid but not the bride all those times has been painful, but apparently not without benefit.
This is why I'd love to see recruiting rankings that combine transfers and HS. If you were to include transfer recruits in rankings, we'd be in the top 5 in the country. I'm ready for many in our fan base to evolve in their thinking around recruiting. That's not meant to be a jab. But it's the evolution of recruiting.See and that's my point. The top 20 BS is exciting and all from HS kids but it should be just as exciting kellie was able to land a former all american in the portal. It should be met with the same energy if not more!
Also, we need to kick rocks with the glass ceiling HS top 20 ... for me i want the best team out there.
If anything top 20 HS recruits are awesome but teams today are showing you can win with a good roster.
Now, last thing I also don't give a darn about where ESPN ranks Da Silva if she comes here we better have the excitement of a TOP recruit coming up in here no matter where she is ranked!
So many people were on Kellies case when Cooper chose SC I want that same energy now that she is a LV

It could well turn out that today's recruiting can live by transfer portal alone. The LVs are certainly doing their part to prove that. But right now it still feels like a good mix of portal and high school recruiting is the safest bet, not relying too heavily on one or the other. Maybe that will turn out to be overly safe, old fashioned thinking.
As far as top 20 hs recruits, the good rosters of the best teams out there who are winning big are full of them. I could be wrong about that as well, but I still think that's a true glass ceiling the LVs need to break.

This roster is not without top 20 talent; in fact, has a top 5 game changer. Much as I hate to agree with certain posters, having a player like that makes all the difference, esp with the right pieces around her. We have the roster to win. Here's the great thing we will see if this roster can win without a bunch of top 20 kids and test that theory.... for the sake of the LVs success (and you'd probably agree) I hope you are REALLY REALLY wrong
Agree. As goes Rickea goes this team goes KJH immediate recruiting future. Of course she isn't the only factor, so much can happen. But if RJ has a great year, we win a few big games, (plz Basketball Gods!!!), and RJ goes to the W with a splash, a big barrier will be broken.the reason we are getting noticed athletes and ballers, like we are from the portal is simple,,Rickea Jackson. Look at her transition while here.. She is finishing strong. Coach K shows she can finish off an athlete.
As well,,JH....Remember,,J Horston isn't doing too badly in the W

Don't know if "finish off" is the exact verbage, but the more I see the player KJH drug kicking and screaming out of Jordan Horston the more credit I think she deserves. Kellie had to make her completely over as a player from the dominant point guard we thought she'd be to the swiss army knife super utility player she is today. And lord knows it wasn't easy.
