The portal is all we've got! We should quit recruiting high-schoolers. Think about how much time, effort and money we've wasted chasing prospects who don't sign with us over the last 4+ years. We've got an 8-national title pedigree and yet have signed, what, 3 HS recruits in 4 years--and one of them was mis-evaluated and left after a year. We might as well be efficient and just work the portal.
On par with Tess stats last season and better than her Soph season stats and currently this season. With less mins averaged. Right call or not…numbers don’t lie.Speaking of Justine, I was very much in her camp last season, believing that Kellie had not given her enough of a run.
I just checked her Vandy starts. 4 games with 2 starts. She is averaging 18 minutes and 6.8 points per game. She is shooting 29% from the 3 and 31% overall. And she has a grand total of 3 rebounds over those 4 games.
Maybe her numbers will pick up but it appears that Kellie was making the right call last season.

If JP her JR is averaging 7.4 and 24 mins next year then I’ll be disappointed. Like I said numbers don’t lie. Season has just began for JP Soph numbers…we can revisit at the end of the year as Tess Soph numbers are set."Numbers don't lie."
lol oh really? Okay, let's find out. Just for fun, I just checked the numbers. Darby shot 36% from the field and 38% from the 3 point line in her sophomore year, and 42% from the field and 41% from three last year. Neato. If we compare, Darby shot 5% better from the field and 11% better from 3 in her sophomore year, and 9% better from the field and 13% better from 3 in her junior year.
Now okay, we'll be a little fair here ... Darby had 7.4 points per game last year, which is only 0.6 more points per game than 6.8, so that's a little more on par. But, you know, just throwing this out there, Pissott's stat line is against Kennesaw, UT-Martin, Fairfield, and WKU. Not sure how that schedule measures up against a schedule with Ohio State, Indiana, Rutgers, etc., but hey, maybe it's closer than it looks.
Not that I even care to harp on Pissott, I'm not trying to dog her performances or anything, but "on par or better" .... mmmm, about that ...
well thought outCounterpoint:
When you recruit high schoolers now, you are not merely recruiting them for their signature on signing day. You are also recruiting them for the possibility that they will change their minds in the future and transfer to you. Y'all were number two for Talaysia Cooper out of highschool (and she might have committed to you if not for the pressure of friends and family in her native state). A year of mop up duty made her rethink her decision and go to the school she loved during hs recruiting. She didnt "shop around" in the portal. She pretty much went straight to y'all.
Look at your transfers (I'm too lazy). How many of the had visited with y'all in high school and formed relationships with Kellie?
Lesson Number 2: Coaching staffs need to NOT be butthurt if a recruit chooses elsewhere initially. If a friendship was made during recruiting, keep it, - even if the player initially committed to a rival.

Out of how many? 60-70 D1P5? Kellie and Staff doing a lot rightAlmost all our transfers loved us before they left us. Always the bridesmaid never the bride. It’s why I said keep the contact and relationship but curtail the fruitless repeat visits. Establish their price early and that seems to be determinative for us.
We are currently being kept afloat as the school of second choice.
Talked with a buddy who has Vandy WBB ticket.Speaking of Justine, I was very much in her camp last season, believing that Kellie had not given her enough of a run.

How so? Just stated her numbers in the early stages are on par or better. Not sure that’s moving anything, that’s who she was behind. And stated I’d would be disappointed if next years numbers were not better. But please elaborate. It was did not take much for you to have to move those goal posts faster than Vol fans after beating Bama.
Then let's swap roles, give us the top dog status and you guys be the perpetual bridesmaid for a while. You'll be better people for it.I always tried to remember those points. Being number 2 means that you will be number 1 one day if you go above and beyond what the number 1 is doing. Lot of life lessons learned that transcend business.
Was not trying to be like that, was only referring to the posts above about never burning bridges with recruits these days and staying their second option if they don’t choose your fav school first. Then let's swap roles, give us the top dog status and you guys be the perpetual bridesmaid for a while. You'll be better people for it.
Easy to pat the underlings on the head and advise em to embrace being lowly when you're on top of the heap.

They see a lack of intensity and unwillingness to mix it up. Stands in one spot waits for ball to be thrown to her per Vandy fan. Sounded familiar. Gosh I want Justine to figure this out!!

It’s somewhat a reflection on CKH and high school recruiting, as JP was her first prize recruit in 20 years. She does what you want her to do, we have bigger issues in recruiting. Why is everyone wanting Pissott to do well? I wish her good health ... and complete failure on the court. I hope she misses all her shots and loses every sec game.
Also playing with better players makes a difference..."Numbers don't lie."
