2024 Transfer Portal Thread

We probably bump the offer but no way is Spyre paying anywhere near the 2 million mark if that’s close to what UK is offering.

He either wants to be here or doesn’t.

It seems to me in this NIL World, coaches have to decide if they are going to be a coach that values team chemistry or a coach that will try to buy wins despite what the relationship is with his team. I think CRB is a coach that values team chemistry. I am honored to cheer for a team that has a coach that values team chemistry over a coach that tries to buy wins. I just hope that our fan base feels the same way. Go Vols!!!

So SF just told you that Barnes has a say, after you have basically said you don't believe anything anyone says other than BTO or SF, so now you are shifting the goalposts to say you don't believe SF and actually Barnes doesn't have control over how much we pay players? Makes complete sense.
I think you would have to be absolutely naive, to think some, if not most, coaches do not have a say in the financials of NIL.
Next these guys are gonna try to tell us that SEC players never got paid, until NIL made it legal...

Why would Barnes not have a say? I mean, he's the guy who's going to have to deal with any locker room issues. He'd be the final authority in everything roster related...or he should be. Unless the plan is to have deniability with his roster. Being able to say he had no say in things might mitigate some jealousy I guess, but anything that might impact the culture and locker room should be left to Barnes and the staff.

IDK?? I was just responding to the dude that said Barnes, along with other coaches, had no say in the amount of money a player receives.
Hell, guys like Cal and the sleaze bag at Kansas were doing it when it was against the rules...

My bad. Don't know much about Barnes as a man, but I know enough to be fairly certain he's going to run that program his way and anything that impacts it will have to go through him first. And that includes NIL....especially NIL.

Honestly, Barnes might really stay out of the whole NIL financial aspect and I wouldn’t really be surprised. But there is no way in hell, you’d convince me that Cal or Self do not have the final, or at least a major say, in what a player gets or doesn’t get.
