Agree with the sentiments of some
previous posters including @sami. I’ll go a bit further; having an offensive phenom like DK can be a handicap of sorts. We saw it in multiple games, including the Purdue EE matchup. I think it was a mistake to allow the team to some extent to fall into a mindset of largely relying on one guy for offensive production, and we know this was a criticism CRB directed at DK at least once during the season. It was counterproductive in some critical games. We don’t need to “replace Knecht” even if that were possible. Consistent, balanced scoring will serve us better than a superstar imo.
I understand and agree with most of what you said. However, the Purdue game came down to two simple facts - 1 Santi Aidoo and ZZ were not 00% due to illness. 2 ZZ uncharacteristically missed some easy shots and multiple FTs that would’ve changed the game completely. Likely due to the illness. It is what it is, but we didn’t lose that game because of our reliance on DK at all. Our reliance on DK put us in position to win that game.
