Awaka is in foul trouble too much and I think alot of it has to do with him trying to be physical, but only 6'9.Am I crazy to prefer Awaka back over Aidoo (in the hypothetical world where I could pick 1)? It may just be recency bias, but I feel like Awaka helps the team more than Aidoo, when given the same minutes.
Aidoo did well with most guys his height or shorter. Afterall he was 2nd team all SEC. For the few matchups he had against 7ft+ bigs, he struggled. But only a handful of top teams had guys that big. Purdue, Kansas, UConn, Creighton. The two other bigs he struggled against that were his size were all conference type players in Johni Broome (Auburn) and Tolu Smith (MSST). Only other one was sensation DJ Burns. But he still had 50lbs on Aidoo.
I don't think Awaka is the answer against the guys of which Aidoo struggled. I do think if Aidoo can put on a few lbs, continue to improve his game along with us recruiting this 6'10 and 6'8 guys with length to help disrupt on defense, it could help with those matchups. All that to say, I'd rather have Aidoo.
