While I agree, I can only imagine how uncomfortable it would be for them to stand before a ton of Vol fans after portaling. They gave us a ton of enjoyment. Good luck to 'em. I'm just excited for an infusion of new talent and fresh blood on this roster. Change might not work out as well next season, but I'm ready for it.

It’s effed up, but it’s honestly made me appreciate JJJ and SV even more. For a week after the loss, the idea of not watching them suit up again was so heartbreaking. The new landscape is awful for a ton of reasons, but it makes me love the guys who stick around so much more - JJJ and SV are special and may be the last of their kind, let’s cherish it.

Giving Mookie the benefit of the doubt, I think he’s mostly just bemoaning the new portal system as whole. It’s very easy to think plug and play guys won’t have the same impact as 3-4 year guys in the system.

Without a doubt. I’m going to really miss SV and JJJ. Feels like I’ve been watching them for a decade. It’s going to be weird seeing a team without those two next year.

Another reason to love ZZ! He has made this place his home (unfortunately, they had to for some tragic reasons) and adopted this place as their second family. I’ll forever have a place in my heart for him because of this. In the new era, guys like this don’t grow on trees.

I’m not saying anything about the quality of next year’s team. I’m talking about the state of college athletics being at a point that young adults who have had major accomplishments, like winning an SEC title, can’t even really enjoy it or get the recognition they deserve anymore because the way this sport is run has changed drastically.

Agreed. And the great thing is that another school could come and offer more money and you know ZZ would stay in Knoxville

And I would hope that the people of Knoxville will look out for them for years to come! (Jobs for Mom, etc) We may never see another ZZ again. Looking forward to enjoying one more year! I wish he had a Covid year too, but I think he came in the following year.

If anyone has ever been looked out for on rocky top, it’s Z’s mom. That family will always have whatever they need here.
