2024 TRANSFER TRACKER

Allegedly we now have NIL funds available that weren’t previously.
So here is something I have wondered. “Gifts” to the NIL funds are, I assume, done on an annual basis. Donors don’t say I’m giving 100k each of the next five years. So if you have say $500K in the WBB NIL piggy bank do you spend it all this year and hope you get the same or more next year? Do you keep $100K back in case donors are not as generous next year or is it gone if you don’t spend it this year? If a kid who got big dollars this year underperforms will they get their NIL cut? If the team has a couple of bad years and the NIL dries up, how do you climb out of that hole?
I just feel like a constant stream of NIL dollars are not guaranteed and some schools are going to find this whole game a little rich over say a ten year period.
Honestly, IMO, the NCAA has completely mucked this whole thing up.

I'd spend every nickel,,,you're not promised another season without results tomorrow,,,get those results and NIL takes care of itself....everyone wants to back a winner

Hopefully someone will write a book or publish an article to clarify this issue. Something just doesn’t mesh or ring true. Can’t put my finger on it.

I suspect there were perceptions that the women’s programs weren’t going to get a fair shake from Spyre, initiating a separate funding organization.

I care nothing about NIL as long as it gets us the players we need. Dont care how much we have, where it comes from, how we use it or why.

Just want to watch great players give their all for Tennessee and put a great product on the floor.

I ESPECIALLY don’t care about any difference in what is available to CKC that was not available to Harper. Just don’t care.

If players are being bought and paid for by NIL, are they giving their all for Tennessee or for the $$$ Tennessee can bring them?

And with the transfer rules quickly dissolving, can they be purchased by a higher bidder in the near future?

NIL just gives them the opportunity everyone who works a job has...Only a very small percentage stay at a job out of loyalty and love of the job/coworkers/boss,,,most chase the highest bidder (highest paying job they can get),,,no difference in this scenario....It is rare to find that worker who will work with equal intensity whether making 8 dollars or 18 dollars an hour...That is the employee I look for and the attitude I like to hire

Yes!!! That was a great spread sheet!! Showed all players remaining by year. If whoever could update that it would be great!!
Oh that may have been me! I'd already plugged in Ruby (*~manifesting~*) so I don't think anything has changed since then. That's 13 scholarship players and 1 walk-on. I read somewhere that while we can have 15 scholarship players (plus Edie as a walk-on), only 15 are allowed to travel for road games. I'd be surprised if we filled the last two scholarships and kept Edie from traveling with the team (if that is indeed the rule).

This is the beautiful spreadsheet! Thanks for posting again! The combo of color coordination and positions is *chef’s kiss*

Their talking both Dauda and Barker like one has committed to Tennessee, but they don't know which one, lol. I need a better source than this, but hope they know what they are talking about.
I would say Dauda before Barker, don’t think she will come here, not enough money and wouldn’t be the star player because of the playing minutes.

Great questions. I've been so frustrated trying to get answers out of Spyre as to how money donated is distributed. They treat it like nuclear secrets. I'd never give them a penny till they clear it up. I'm not paying for Nico's next Ferrari.

The NCAA did muck it up, washed their hands of NIL management like Pontus Pilot and threw it out there as a total lawless mess.

LOL, I've said before someone should write a book about the last couple of seasons. Lots and lots of drama. I do think reflexive fear of getting overwhelmed by Vol football caused the initial seperation of funding orgs. Which turned out to be a mistake since the resulting female exclusive org was sort of Mom and Pop stuff.
I ESPECIALLY don’t care about any difference in what is available to CKC that was not available to Harper. Just don’t care.
Well there's a surprise. I guess you won't be buying the book.

The difference is we never looked on athletes as 'employees' before. And with the amount of money management was raking in, that was a big mistake. Schools are fighting now to keep athletes fm officially being declared employees, tho they know they'll be paying them. They just don't want to be responsible for everything else that goes with employees.

Agree. I wish the best for Barker but that may be one more chemistry problem than this new team needs to take on, both on and off the court. Hope Janiah lands somewhere that's right for her, outside the SEC.

As of yesterday, each team was allowed 15 scholarship players when Fall practice starts.
Heck fellow I have been aware of that for 30 years.
My point is and was that you do not have to sign anyone to scholarships anymore if enough NIL is offered ...You could have any number of folks on the squad with current rules .The only way to combat the numbers would be to limit the total numbers allowed on the squad.
