6 pts against Gulf Coast, 2 pts against Shelton State, 2 pts against a really bad Santa Fe, 2 pts against a really bad Hillsborough team

god, i think you’re worse than any other poster we’ve had here. she’s depth, she’s not coming here to start but grabbing 7 boards in 14 mins of play a game in the ACC is a solid depth piece.

let’s totally disregard the potential she showed in the west virginia game (18 points and 14 rebounds) and the other game against notre game (8 points and 10 rebounds).
its the body of work.. not just one game.. take a look at 2 years of juco and 1 year at pitt.. she should be at UT MArtin!

1) I’m not being defensive.
2) I disagree.
So you are disagreeing that she is a 6’1 forward? That info is really not something you can diagree about. I know we are living in a post-truth society but her height and position are not matters of opinion.

Why is everyone being so defensive about this topic. I don't think anyone is questioning that Ayodele is a high energy player who can rebound. But she does not help add depth to our post position.

We are talking about the factual circumstances.

She's going to be beating and banging down low. She will be defending post players so she is a post.

CKC says her role is too be... "a very strong and athletic presence in the paint"

Jordy is what, 6’2 and increased her vertical tremendously. She was already a good blocker but when she left UT, she could outrebound 6’5

Was Rickea a post player? I am sorry this a really dumb debate.

I could never be mad at you madtown, but comparing Rickea and this new recruit, and you say others are perpetuating a dumb debate?

Our own coach says she will be in the paint. I think I'll take her word on it.

She had to play some High Post because She was able to score from the upper elbows. But her true Position in my estimation is small forward in the traditional sense. ...Because she can handle the ball, Play the 4,shoot the 3.. drive. ..Create off the dribble and finish At the rim, this versatility to me makes her a small forward

Let me be clear. The debate is whether the new recruit plays at the 5 slot. Rickea never played in the 5. This “debate” is nuts

It seems like there's just a differing opinion over whether or not a 4 is a post player, or if posts are reserved to just 5s. It sounds like you, madtown, reserve the term post player to 5s, whereas I've always thought of both 4s and 5s as post players. Google's new AI feature says that power forwards/4s are post players, but 5s are called "posts" whereas 4s are called "power forwards"...

In any case, I agree that this is a silly debate and it's just about preferred terminology! I think we can all agree that Rapuluchi will spend time in the post when she's on the court, whether or not you want to call her a post player or not.

Agreed but on terminology, I would suggest that playing in the paint or the key is not synonymous with the post

Rickea never played in the 5.
But she scored many many points by posting up. It was KJH go to emergency plan, Kea in the post.

Its all semantics. I think the point w this portal player is she's a good rebounder for her size and from wherever she plays.

Honestly, the whole addition seems like a bit of an afterthought. Not a huge deal either way.

at 6-1, if she plays a pure 5 the opponent will take a 6-4+ player and score on us with ease.

What is not being considered here is Kim's BB format will be the ultimate in positionless basketball,,,SO 3-4-5 is pretty much a moot point

Support our team, you are not a high level college coach, if you don't want to support and be positive choose another team to bash.

Go Vols

No disagreement. It does seem that CKC approach is not going to deploy traditional positions. The whole debate began with a claim from someone that this signing is essential for our post depth, where the team is only one injury away from disaster. Since, the LVs have many players who will be hitting the boards and scoring in the paint, it seemed that claim could only apply to Hollingshead who had been the teams (converted) traditional post player. But when the team has to match up against a traditional wide body post or Cardosa-like freak of nature, it won't be 6'1 (maybe 140 pound) Aoydele, barring an emergecy. It will be Latham and Hollingshead. Post defense is going to be the team's potential Achille's heel. They will have to use a lot of fronting and double teaming and then hope to get blazing fast close-outs on the open players (or never the opposing team get past half court with the press, which seems to be the utopian plan). But let us all agree that Rapuluchi Ayodele is one of the best, if not the best names in WCBB.
