Latham should average a double double this season if she plays the season at full strength and finds a staff that can maximize her skill set. To say that is settling is just wrong. And there’s no kind of expectations known to man that could diminish what kind of potential Alyssa Latham has to be an elite player.

At the end of the day only one team wins the natty, no one thought USC was making a final 4 when the season began with them just adding JuJu? Teams can go from non-contenders to contenders in an off-season. She could be the piece that take us from a non-contender to a pretender.

Uconn also hasn't won a Natty since 2016. Do they have the pieces to contend yes, but anything can happen. Pursue her anyway.

Team chemistry is a must. Simply having the most talent doesn’t get you a natty. Witness Holly’s last two years.

We can offer more than any of the teams rumored, they all have multiple stars to lay, we don’t even have one on that level yet.

Pretty sure a one year player is looking for one of the teams with far better odds than a team looking for a one season turnaround. But of course it doesn't hurt to throw our hat in the ring. Sort of like how everyone said at least approach Dawn Staley. But it's not going to happen.

They really shouldn’t ever do this though and I know everyone feels different on the outside looking in. But truthfully, this roster is not bad. It is above average prior to the portal additions. The core was responsible for beating Oklahoma without Rickea Jackson. Powell contributed to that win, and Talaysia Cooper sat out the year. Projecting the roster needs it seems the staff has finalized their evaluation of the returnees.

They don’t need to invest in throwing resources at a big name player based solely on status when they have known athletes and decorated athletes already on the roster. Spear, Cooper, Hollingshead, and Puckett would be coveted by other programs. Wells, Boyd, and Kaiya should be focusing on developing their games offensively this off-season.

The staff needs to focus on athleticism, rebounding, shooting, and youth. That is exactly what they seem to be after. But throwing deals at any player when I watched teams like Oregon State, Colorado, and NC State put together complete teams without one big name PRIOR to the start of the season is evidence that building a complete team is a path to success.

With the biggest stars, I don't think money is the whole story. I'll bet KiKi would take a pay cut in base salary to compete for a natty. The big stars know they'll get plenty of endorsements, esp if they win a natty.

Joni going to be able to field a team? If hype alone could have helped, she'd be in business, but sadly, it didn't. I'm still salty she was gifted Gary Blair's COY award a few years ago. Then last year we heard endlessly about her big portal haul and how good they would be.

Sure wish Culabolly would get back in the portal. I think we came pretty close on her last year. She was awesome at the SEC tourney, could be exactly what we need.
