He wasnā€™t on the Fall Ball roster that I had but several werenā€˜t due to injuries or illness. I will add him to the list as he will be on the roster barring unforeseen circumstance. Big RHP that projects to be a stud.

A question about several guys from the last couple years...are Bryson Thacker, Dane Bjorn and Hunter Sloop still on the team? I didn't see them on your list.

Great questionā€¦.i know Sloop transferred to Charlotte but not sure about Bryson Thacker as he wasnā€™t on last yearā€™s active roster so assume he redshirted. He wasnā€™t on the one Fall Roster I had but it was missing several due to illness or injuries. I know Dane Bjorn pitched for Elizabethton this Summer but canā€˜t Find him on a roster. @NighthawkVol, do you happen to know?

I donā€™t think theyā€™re still on the team, but not certain (except for Sloop).

Good stuff TV. I agree with your estimates on the starting position players. How the weekend staff shakes out will be fascinating. Lots of young talent coming in. Doyle is electric. Excited to see Arvidson. Iā€™m also excited for our young catchers. Levi Clark had an awesome fall at the plate. Abernathy is a spark plug.

First, great job @taylorvol. Baseball, particularly TN, is hard to keep up with since they don't ever seem to have an announcement on signees (at least that I've seen under TV).

Second, I think I saw a report earlier this fall from Ben McKee that FR pitchers Andrew Dumont and Ryler Smart were hurt and would probably need to RS. Maybe that didn't turn out to be the case.

At any rate, getting to 40 could be a challenge this year. Some good talented players may have to be "reassigned".

For sure, SEC baseball is uber competitive and BaseVols continue to reload with lots of superb talent. Iā€™m thankful UT doesnā€™t go crazy with transfer portal players and still primarily grow and develop players from within. The key portal transfers have typically been high character, great clubhouse guys who have been superb additions to the team.

FYIā€¦.Confirmed that Bryson Thacker was injured in the Fall. Not sure if heā€™s taking a medical redshirt in 2025 or not.

I would disagree on announcement but maybe it is the formats. Elander or another staff members posts every time there is a commitment and the real vol baseball posts on instagram and facebook every time a player commits. Then they also have a list that puts who actually signs.

As reported by D1 Baseball:

At the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) convention there was discussion of the following:
Rosters will be limited to 34 for the 2026 college baseball season. Itā€™s 40 for 2025 college baseball season.
Recommendations:
1) 2025 Fall rosters to be capped at 38
2) Final 34 on roster would need to be announced no later than Dec 1st
3) Alllow 4 Fall games to be played (current cap is 2)

I watch every game I can and try to attend a few as well. However, I donā€™t have the bandwidth to know the strengths and weaknesses of each player.

Can someone compare the starting roster of last year to our potential starting roster this year. Where we think we step back, are about the same or a player is an improvement.
