This year's team will have less experience for sure except in a couple of positions, SS and CF for sure, so can't judge it.

Abernathy could be someone like that. Elite freshman hitting a wall with SEC pitching isn’t going out too far on a limb

I think we start the season with this lineup…
C Peebles
1B Perry
2B Kilen
SS Curley
3B Fischer
LF Abernathy
CF Ensley
RF Chapman
DH Bargo
SP Doyle
SP Kuhns
SP Arvidson

But I think Clark rotates in at LF, Backus rotates in at a revolving door in RF, and Lawless becomes a 2 game/week first baseman. Also think Kuhns hits a freshman wall and Russell becomes the starter before May.

Updated Perry’s status as OFF TEAM but didn’t impact my projected starting lineup as I had Bargo starting at 1B. I think Levi Clark, Hunter High, and Stone Lawless will get some more backup reps at 1B now that Perry is no longer on the team.

Same. Looks like there’s about 13 more players that won’t make the active 40 man roster for 2025. This will be the last season with bloated Fall and season rosters. It looks likely that Fall rosters for 2026 season will be capped at 38, and 2026 season active rosters will be capped at 34 (and officially announced no later than Dec 1st).

Seems like we have 1-2 contributors ‘step away’ from the team each year.

I can’t remember them outside of Zane Denton, but seems like there’s someone we are excited about that always ends up in this ‘personal matter’ area.

Hopefully Alex Perry is able to get the time to himself/his family/his matters he needs, and rejoin the team!

I don’t know that I’d say two instances in two years constitutes a trend.

I would say he is correct if you add step away temporarily, which would mean for at least a month. It has truly been at least 2 a year for the past 5-6 years up to 4 in a couple of years. The average fan does not know about it if it happens in the fall..
